Did the Ceilidh idea come from here (http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/ch ... 1/#Ceilidh)by any chance?

No I did my first event ceilidh at SinS 2007 - and I introduced the idea of event bagpipers at JK2005 - the S6D cottoned on some time after that

I seem to recall Sunlit Forres and his gang having bagpipes at a Roseisle event in the late 1990s.

It's a shame the English do not get a chance to vote for Scottish Independence, I'm confident you would be Independent by now if we did

Re: Someone stole my idea!
The social programme for CROESO 2012 has been provisionally created and has lots of good ideas for all age ranges - we are planning a "talk" prior to each evening activity - for example geological talk on the day's area you have run on...and in good tradition we will have a ceilidh AND a twmpath, booking some local bands, demo of "Robot Wars" from the Uni Boffins, hopefully something for all - or of course you can take yourself off to the Arts centre and watch a play/show, or the art gallery or even the cinema in the Uni...on that one the Uni are happy for us to have a "film night"..any suggestions..Chariots of Fire, Zulu (filmed on Teifi Pools?) or Run Fat Boy Run

Their leader bears a worrying resemblace to Rowan Atkinson.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Cornish independence being won before I get too old to run at WOC.
