The map was big and green - quite striking to someone who was used to running in the soft (but brambly) south west. An impresive area, especially the bit along under the crags with the big boulders.

No - but I see the likeness
I took it in St Kilda a couple of years ago, and the dragon like appearance struck me.
It is of some of the lower slopes of Boreray which I climbed in O shoes. They were not much cop on the rock climbing sections lower down, did not protect my ankles from the guano but were the dog's on the steep grass slopes.

The Programme for the BOC weekend has been published online for a while, and the start times have been published today.

The good weather has also been ordered.

The programme states that everyone will wear a bib. How do we find out our number or do we spend (waste) time at the pre start?

It says that your number will be at the prestart.
Your number is next to your name in the start list, which is on Fabian. I'm sure a list will also be supplied in the Prestart.

I did see that number, but that is the order of entry.
So I am looking for confirmation that this will also be our bib number.
I haven't seen anything official which says where out bib numbers can be found.
Bib numbers for JK were clearly printed on the start list.

It actually quite clearly says at the bottom of page 10 of the programme

Bibs
All competitors will have number bibs, to be collected at pre-start area of each start. Pins will be provided. . Please allow time to locate and attach your bib at the start.

and I would make an intelligent guess that there will be a list of names and numbers somewhere nearby.

Yes - I also read the bottom of page 10.

I am just trying to find out if we can know our numbers before the event. It would be much easier if we knew beforehand which number to grab, rather then 'fight' over lists (in the rain?).

That's the way it worked at JK.

The start lists published now do not show your bib number. Revised start lists published in the next few days may show your bib number, and you can be certain that plenty of lists will be provided in the pre-start area for you to find your bib number then.

Just making and educated guess. Your entry number is unique and at previous events this has been your race number.
