Bank Holiday Monday
I wonder why it appears there is not a single orienteering event planned anywhere in the country for Bank Holiday Monday - is it because this weekend is usually reserved for the British champs or too close to the Jk do you think? I thought perhaps a few informals or fun events might have been put on

Re: Bank Holiday Monday
I did one last weekend and my nerves can't cope with 2 in a row!
I suppose people maybe think alot of people will want a weekend off orienteering if they've just done the JK, but agree it's a shame no local events. There was a Latvian student at our Easter O last week staying in Ed and he was disappointed there was nothing Ed or central belt based this weekend.
Suspect most planners and organisers want a weekend to recharge.
I've been MTBOing today and am out on the tandem tomorrow, although if I show too much enthusiasm for cycling Findlay will have my weekends booked up with audaxes. He's already suggesting I might like to cycle 100k in a fortnight's time!

perhaps that's the case - although we went to an excellent event in the Forest of Dean today and were enthused to see if there was anything on tomorrow. I'll fall back onto Plan B and consult The Yellow Book.

He/she couldn't have look very far as there was an ELO event yesterday at Vogrie Country Park, Pathhead, which is less than 10 miles from Edinburgh.

Irish Orienteering Champs for those who extended their stay in Ireland
Great "Middle Distance" event yesterday peat hag hopping!
A more physical challenge today.
Some good results for the Brits that stayed over.

I hadn't realised there was an ELO event other wise I'd have told him, he didn't have transport so may have struggled to get to Vogrie, he got the bus to Perth.

Well what an opportunity!? No O means you could do a running or a MTB race, or go visit your local cycling group and go for a spin, or check out you local LDWA.org.uk group and go for a long walk! Maybe go hashing - again just a google away. Whatever you do, take some fliers with you for your clubs upcoming local events or maybe you have a club flier too. Dump some piles strategically, or leave some on/by the registration desks or flier some vehicles....
Failing that, do a POC!
