Picking up on rocky's post about the JK Relays - who is going to win this year's UK Relay Leagues? ShUOC are the reining champions in the Men's and EUOC in the Women's, the two universities having finally ended SYO's three straight years of dominance in both competitions.
Will SYO strike back, or will the students hold on to their crowns? Can any other teams compete with them? Personally I'm tipping ESOC to challenge for the Women's title...
This year the League has a shiny new website at the old address: http://ukrelayleague.org.uk I'm afraid it does look rather like every other WordPress site on the internet, but it'll do the job. (And before anybody says anything, transferring the full results prior to 2010 is still on my to-do list.)
Also, an appeal - does anybody have any decent (high-res) relay action photos that would be suitable for the top banner on the website? I've just got the two on rotation at the moment, so it would be nice to have a few more. You'd get the honour of having your name in little letters at the bottom of every page. Email (sjcollier@gmail.com) or PM me if you have any you'd be willing to let me use.

And points are up from the British Relays: http://ukrelayleague.org.uk/
I hope I've managed to catch all the cases of teams being non-comp because members ran for somebody else at the JK, but let me know if you think I've got it wrong.
I'll post a bit of commentary on Tuesday, once entries for the Scottish Relays have closed - at the moment it's looking like the Scottish may be a bit of a points buffet for EUOC.

I've done this on the train home from SinS, so it's even more likely than usual that I've got something wrong - holler if you spot any errors.
I'll figure out who can still win it tomorrow and do a bit of a write-up in time to encourage everyone to get their Harvester entries in!

is the relay the day after the UK cup final a ranking race? Master Street seems to think it is...

EBOR is running the UK Cup Final on Sunday 9th October. So is there a relay (UK Relay League) on Saturday 8th?

Re: UK Relay League 2011
We had hoped to have a UK Relay League Final on the Saturday to go with the UK Cup Final on the Sunday, but sadly these plans have come to naught for 2011 (at least as far as I'm aware - I guess it's possible that it is on and I've not found out about it yet).
However, we have slightly more promising plans for UKRL2012, hopefully including both a Final in the autumn and another exciting new race... watch this space

Re: UK Relay League 2011
An update on the 2011 UKRL Final: the team coordinating the UK Cup Final weekend in October tell me that they are still working on putting together a Relay Final for the Saturday, despite difficulties in finding a suitable area. I will hopefully have a definitive answer as to whether or not the Final is going ahead early next week, and I'll update everyone as soon as I do.
My apologies for the confusion. I appreciate that it's not great to have uncertainty over the Final at this point in the series, and I am hopeful that it will be cleared up very soon.

Re: UK Relay League 2011
I am sorry to confirm that we have been unable to arrange a UK Relay League Final for 2011. I would like to thank the volunteers in the region for their efforts to find a suitable area and team able to stage it; unfortunately a variety of circumstances have conspired against us for this year. The good news is that we are arrangements for a Final in autumn 2012 are well on track - watch this space...
That means that the Harvester will be the final race in the UK Relay League 2011. Now that this is confirmed, I'll get to work on a who-can-still-win-it preview.

Despite organising ShUOC will still have a competitive A team at Harvester.

I think HOC may have 3 teams in the offing - I'm charging up my battery for the Handicapped ladies team (is that the phrase I'm looking for?) it was a cunning plan to schedule it for the weekend before graduation
