Re: Crossing Points... AGAIN!
I agree that a paragraph containing the phrases "crossing points are not mandatory" and "cross fences ONLY AT..." is ambiguous if both phrases refer to day 2.
If a fence crossing is not mandatory then the info should just state that "crossing points are not mandatory but the organisers recommend you use them for your own safety"

I don't think there is really a problem with the day 2 details. The fences are described - chest high with 3 strands of barbed wire. Basically they are saying you can try crossing them if your'e hard enough but we really wouldn't recommend it.
It is day 3 where the details are ambiguous about what you are allowed to cross and what is prohibited.

Re: Crossing Points... AGAIN!
Istand by my interpretation. In common with much of the program there is a lot of over information, and quite a lot seems to be repeated.
The point is that the MANDATORY crossing points are those crossing fences marked by the standard symbol as forbidden to cross.
Hence if you don't read the details and know and obey ISOM mapping convention you'll be okay - that's the way it should be as many won't read them (particularly as they are so lengthy).

Re: Crossing Points... AGAIN!
Except that the details make no mention of purple overprint on fences - only that some crossing points are marked in purple. As far as I can make out there are 3 types of fence.
A) Those that we can cross wherever we feel like.
B) Those that we are politely asked to not to cross.
C) Those that we are prohibited from crossing.
All these are mapped using ISOM symbol 522.0

Re: Crossing Points... AGAIN!
I still don't see the need for option b.
If I'm planning a course and think that people should use crossing points either to keep the landowner happy and stop damage to fences, or for their own safety then I would make crossing points compulsary.
I think compulsary crossing points should be visible from some distance though. I have been pissed off in the past hunting for a compulsary crossing point that is hidden behind a long strip of green in an area with no obvious features near it.
