I have just got my map out and looked at control 18. I am totally unclear what the problem on the map was. I actually made a careless error here and thinking I was setting off to the left of where I had earlier come down I blindly set off down this cul-de-sac before realising that I was going the wrong way and turning round

Are people saying that there was really a gap where it's mapped as private in which case, (particularly if an advantage was gained,) surely anyone realising they had gone that way shoud DQ themselves.

It ws at the ebd of the really long leg. No 16 from.memory. I was coming from the right of the control, aiming to run the last few hundred metees on the grass. This involvedgettung through a sliver of white mapped at the end of the cul de sac. It didn't exist. Wasted a bit of time, but didn't really distract from a fun day out.

That is such a shame - the same day as the Malvern Urban race which is the day before the Midlands champs which I'm supposing will be a Masters' cup race. I'm hoping Malvern will be in the NUL

I have emailed her too, having advised them last weekend (before we knew we had it) that we needed to avoid the Midland Champs (& Malvern which I didn't know about).

Eddie - theres a very small area of white mapped at the end of the cul de sac about 100m ESE of 18 on Course 2. It almost looks like an artefact on OCAD, but its not possible to get through despite what it looks like on the map. Its not really on an obvious route to or from any of the controls in that area, which I am sure is why it slipped through, but from memory the competitor who mentioned it was on the long leg on course 1 to 16 (your 17) and got drawn S into the cul de sac from where it became a potential route back to the control. Unfortuantely it wasnt. Map error. Slipped through. Apologies.

And therefore now clashing with the Welsh Championships weekend, which this year included a Masters' Cup race.

You can't win when scheduling fixtures.

104 -Saturday and Sunday (and add Bank Holiday Mondays etc.)

Yes indeed, the Scottish Sprint Champs has clashed with the Welsh Champs in each of the last three years and now again in 2012.

We really didn't want to clash with another Urban event through. Our original planned date had an even worse clash ie the British Champs weekend.

The Welsh champs is hardly a "clash" with the Scottish sprints. If we avoid that sort of scheduling that will be a very retrograde step.

Anyway I would be surprised if the Welsh is a UK Masters Cup race next year as if the whole thing is not subsumed in the new BOF thingy I would imagine the Welsh 6 day providing a couple of counters.
