The following has been sent out by email, and posted on the JK website :
FOR THE ATTENTION OF ALL ELITE COMPETITORS IN THE SPRINT EVENT AND THOSE WHO HAVE ENTERED WOMEN OPEN
The information previously contained on the event website and in the Summer 2010 brochure indicated that Elite competitors in the 18, 20, and 21 classes would be seeded collectively on Courses 1 and 2 of the Sprint race, and therefore the top seeded would be starting towards the end of the start window. As the climax of the races for the M/W21E World Ranking classes is likely to be at a point when the main competitions are over, and when the crowd may be dwindling, the Organisers have been granted by British Orienteering a variation of the Rules so that the two World Ranking Events start first, with their finishes and prizegiving midway through the afternoon. This will enable the Organisers to ‘showcase’ the IOF World Ranking Event.
It is the intention to start the M21E class on Course 1 at about 1410 with the last starter leaving at 1600, to start the W21E class on Course 2 at about 1430 with the last starter leaving at 1540, and have the prizegiving at about 1630. Classes M20 and M18 on Course 1 will be seeded collectively, and will start at about 1615. Classes W20, W18, and Women Open will be seeded collectively on Course 2 will also start at about 1615.
The final event details will be published on the event website during this coming week, and the start list published on or soon after Tuesday 12 April. If the change in these timings will cause problems for competitors’ existing unalterable travel arrangements, they should contact entries@jk2011.org.uk

Re: JK 2011 - Sprint start times for Elites
Well done JK 2011.... always sensible to have the Elite finish & flower ceromony when people are around

But whay did this change happen?? The WRE's have IOF EA to make certain these aspects are covered from the start. BOF also has an 'automatic' elite advisor (one of the Event Managers) to check these things....
Makes the entire overseeing process look amatuer

Re: JK 2011 - Sprint start times for Elites
JK 2011 got the ball rolling back last summer, so that they could take advantage of all the European summer events. They got a lot of publicity, which has paid off in the number of overseas competitors that we now have.
However, that meant taking a guesstimate on how some of the event timings would happen, back in July / August 2010. When it came to getting things sorted on the ground, all the right people were involved in the discussion, and they decided to make a change.
(BTW, not everyone seems to have received their email from SiEntries, and we wonder if some have gone into spam by mistake - if folk could check, please.)

Re: JK 2011 - Sprint start times for Elites
Minutes of ESG of June 2009 indicated:
It is recommended for 2011 that two days of the JK and a British Championship race (if open) be
selected as WREs

It would have been useful to know that several months ago when we were arranging our travel and accomodation.

Don't be so negative pete.owens. They have offered to change times if necessary. Ireland has little manpower and is pulling out all the stops to put on a great JK. Give them a break Mr Perfect
