Congratulations
To Leicestershire Orienteering Club (who have made me very welcome at their events) on being named Club of The Year (See BOF website) - and good luck to them in the National Sport and Recreation Alliance (formerly the CCPR) Club of the Year competition.
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: Congratulations
How many clubs actually nominate themselves for this prestigious title?

Re: Congratulations
Can't answer that, but I can confirm that LEIOC put on a lot of well-run events, do a very good job of squeezing enjoyable courses out of unpromising surroundings (Snibston Discovery Park for example) and have the best record in the country on getting their ranking points up while you can still remember the event (evidence here: http://www.dorien.co.uk/O/ranking.php).
Surely that's what "Club of the Year" should be about - rather than having lots of nice mountains and fast runners?

Looks second best from your evidence. But well done.

Re: Congratulations
LEI move from shared first to clear first after posting yesterday's results before 15:00 on race day. (I know one competitor whose points were up before she'd reached home).

Re: Congratulations
My club was a "runner up" in this one, and indeed we wondered whether that might mean "a very good entry among many" or rather "anyone else who bothered to put in an application"...
Does anyone happen to actually know?

Re: Congratulations
There were other entries. Four judges marked the entries independently on their answers to each question on the entry form, and it just happened that when the scores were added up the three runners-up had equal points.

Re: Congratulations
It might be interesting to see the applications/marks etc of the winners/runners up so we can all see what the successful clubs are up to in detail?
Maybe we will submit a form this year? I think there are prizes for winners and runners -up. I'm sure I will be asked though about our chances though. As a small club we clearly can't offer as much as many of the bigger clubs just because of the number of volunteers available.

Re: Congratulations
Half marks for NATO re the Northern Championships. Saturday's sprint on the BOF database with ranking points very quickly, Sunday's classic race has taken four days and counting.
<and yes, I recognise that speed of posting results is not the most important thing in the world, and slow results are only a minor blemish on a good event>

Results have been on the Nato website (muddy.org) since at least Monday (and I think Sunday night) complete with winsplits, splitsbrowser and routegadget. They are on the BOF website now.

Yes, Sunday night by 10:00pm, which I would say was fast considering the webmaster was still in the car park field at 6:30pm (possibly you were also still there?) and didn't get home until 7:30pm.

Typical comment from someone who doesn't know the reason for delays, trying to hide his criticism with small writing.

I never suggested that I knew the reason for the delay. Since the results were on the NATO site quickly (sorry, I could have mentioned that explicitly), I guess the problem may be with BOF rather than NATO. I did not make any criticism in small writing, rather an aside to say that I recognise that it wasn't a particularly important matter. No need to be so catty!
And I don't suppose it's anything other than co-incidence, but the results have appeared on the BOF website within a couple of hours of my comment. The information I was looking for, not available on the NATO website, was have I got any useful ranking points? And the answer, of no interest to anyone but myself, is no.

Re: Congratulations
Once again LEI get their results and ranking points up on the same day - Cademan & Thringstone on the BOF site before 16:00 today.
