We're looking forward to this. The weather forecast looks reasonable for Saturday ... nice clear set of Final Details.

I was wondering though ... will there be traders or grub in Assembly ?

We have Ultrasport coming. No caterers, I'm afraid - the assembly area is on Council land, and the Council were rather demanding with their requirements for paperwork and environmental health inspections

Start lists appearing soon - I'm just putting the finishing touches on them. Men's Vets/Juniors course is full so it's requiring quite a bit of thought to (hopefully) meet everyone's requests.

I see that several legs have four distinct routes taken by the ten runners on Chase courses 1 and 3 on RouteGadget now. Which was best? Put your route on, and see how your time compares to the other choices...

That was really good fun! The weather was good, too, and the views off the top of Shotover hill were magnificent. Thanks very much to Scott and his team for a smashing event.

A very good day out. challenging courses extracted from (at first glance) an unpromising area. It really suited the sprint format, easyish controls for the most part but mistakes there to be made and boy did I make them . Thanks to Jok for the organising and serendipidy for the balmy weather ( whilst our scots bretheren were suffering blizzards one hears)..
The chase nicely replicates the pressures of a relay , but more so ( first leg anyone? ) so good training.

Not related to the JOK, but I did the Scottish Sprint Championships in Perth last week, a complex urban area, and I found it impossible to remember some of the details of the run. Everything happened so quickly!

...and uploaded to BOF for ranking points? The chasing start isn't a ranking race, but the prologue should be.

As promised in my exchange with NeilC here, I went away and discussed with the rest of the event officials and the club committee whether or not we should submit the prologue for ranking points. The majority verdict was in favour of not doing so, for much the same reasons as I gave in that thread - we see the prologue as effectively half a race.

I hope nobody is too disappointed. To be fair, it was clearly stated in the pre-entry details that there were no ranking points to be had - we even got the "R" icon specially removed from the BOF fixtures list.

Good news and bad news for TG then with those new WOC formats:

Good: 2 Middle events, although will he cope with the pressure of the head-to-head Pursuit race ...

Bad: He now needs to invent 2 novel ways to blow it if he is to avoid getting a relay medal.

* Failing to punch last control correctly?

He might do the former but won't invent it - some one did that at JK Sprint in Newcastle.
With the latter lots have done it already.
