So what is everybody planning to run at the British Sprint Champs - the open (elite) course, or their age class?
I personally have always enjoyed running on the same course as the elites at the Elite Sprint Champs in the past, and my age class course is only 15% shorter than the elite course, which on a sprint course is almost nothing. But if everyone else is going to run in their age class then it seems a bit silly to be the only one running up (I'm not going to win whatever).

Re: British Sprint Champs
A new challenge this year is to try and qualify for your age class A final. With a maximum of 18 (probably) qualifying from each age class for the A final this will be pretty tough for ages classes such as GML's.

Re: British Sprint Champs
Based on the entries so far most people seem to be going for their age class. Of the 60 M21Elite entries only about 6 are over 35 and two of them are either ex- or current squaddies.
A reminder that the first entry closing date is midnight on Sunday.

Maybe. I certainly am, but I'd still rather not have had the age class divisions and wish that we'd not had this format format forced on us. The old one being far more interesting and exciting. If it hadn't been UKMC, I doubt if we'd have been making the journey (with all due respect to the organisers etc: we're looking forward to it, but the format doesn't appeal in the same way any more).

There are still very few entries in the 35 and (more surprisingly) 40 categories, so if the people in these age groups aren't running up, then presumably they've decided not to take part (or just not decided yet). Seems strange - numbers on the 21 and 45+ courses are quite reasonable.

So I'd like to run in something like the old Elite Sprint Champs. Best event ever.
failing which, I'd like to be British Champion in my age group. Maybe collect some Master's Cup points? Or guarantee an entry in BEOC by collecting some UK Cup points.
So what am I going to do?
For a start, not enter until the last possible moment when I can see the field and tell if the Elite Race will be anything like as much fun as the old format, whether top end of the field is strong enough to give me a shot at UK Cup points, and whether I have any hope of winning M45.
Truly, an entry system for the ebay generation.
Coming soon

Neil, Do you plan to have anything for kids on the Saturday - String cse or short EOD cse? I'm sure it would be much appreciated (if you have the volunteers available to run it).

On the Saturday there will be a string course available during the qualifying rounds and a naughty numbers available during the finals. Both are at the assembly area and will use electronic punching. There will also be a 2km "come and try it" course available during both rounds (entry on the day only). Parents can shadow on this after their own run. Or just let them watch the tele' in the bar.
On the Sunday there will be a string course about 100m from assembly, plus some more wayfarer-type courses Yellow and orange certainly. Once again shadowing allowed after the parent has run.

£15 for a sprint event is a little too much for me really.

Re: British Sprint Champs
Well its a British Champs - and there are two events. I dont see that as unreasonable. Unfortunately its just too far for me this time. I'd a look at flying down but THAT was too expensive.
