Re: MDOC Website
The people in the club who can do something about this have been told and will no doubt do what is needed to get going again.

Re: MDOC Website
I was just looking at the Yellow results for Saturday on the BOF website - Hannah Pocock WAOC born 1998 came first, and Hannah Pocock WAOC born 1997 came fourth. Is there some mixup on BOFs results? I am sure on the MDOC results (which still aren't functioning) it was actually Molly Pocock that won.
Actually I have seen a similar thing before - at Pickering Forest last year when both my wife's result and my own were attributed to me. Everything was correct in Ebor's results, it was just the BOF results that had it mixed up.

You are correct. Looking at results on Routegadget Molly won, Hannah 4th.
No idea why BOF results are different.

BOF results are driven by BOF number. So if there is an error in BOF number in the results computer (which won't show on the MDOC webpage results, because that doesn't show BOF number) then that error will get carried over to the BOF webpage results.
When uploading to the BOF webpage you see the results previewed as they will appear, but not everyone takes the time to check that this exactly matches the true results. It's easily fixed by re-uploading.

Re: MDOC Website
Presuming that the girls are sisters and have a family membership they are likely to have BOF numbers where only the last digit changes -easy mistake to make at registration and hard to spot when uploading.
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: MDOC Website
In that case how did it know that one of them was born in 1997 and the other in 1998?

I'll ask again.
YOB must be coming from the BOF database as well as the name, derived from BOF number. If it didn't that would be silly. If you get two results submitted with the same BOF number you would expect to see the same name AND the same year of birth.

Re: MDOC Website
Hopefully with the money MDOC raked in at the weekend the treasurer can fork out for a bit more bandwidth!
String course and day 2 absolutely fantastic - but day 1 rather disappointing for the lake district. Thanks though to all involved in the weekend.

Re: MDOC Website
With regard to the Pocock girls' results, there was some confusion when they downloaded because they seemed to have run on E-cards with interchanged numbers and we got confused. I think we sorted it out correctly in the end, but it could be that we didn't and there is something wrong in the results. If so, can someone let me know and I will ensure that it gets corrected.

MDOC site still down. Current message reads:
Site Removed !
Your site has been removed because you have exceeded your bandwidth allowance.
You may be able to upgrade to an account with a higher bandwidth allowance - take a look at our Webspace FAQ to find out.
Hopefully MDOC's account runs in calendar months and will be back up tomorrow.

An interesting thought buzz. I would be most interested to understand a little more about the comment. Please say more....
Personally I found the terrain very wet and slippery, and in certain parts of the steep forest slope, rather dangerous to travel at anything other than a walk. I feel the end of April or May would have been a better time to run there. But then perhaps permissions wouldn't allow!
There are always so many compromises to make! But the quality of the O is paramount. The enjoyment that the runners experience is the important bit.
If the NW have not produced a top quality event then we should be aware of that and attempt to improve for the future. The whole point of the NW regional league is to provide top class competition on really good (and appropriate) terrain at the time of year that gives the best conditions.
Feedback is important.
