Re: Results and Rankings.
There have been some further adjustments to the Westerham scores following the record points score of 1563 on the white course. I'm told it's all sorted out now. You might want to check though.

Was the NWO event at Savernake a ranking event? Do BOF have these results?

Re: Results and Rankings.
It was certainly advertised as a ranking event. I hope they do get round to submitting the results in time - I have a feeling it may have be one of my best scores for a while. But NWO have apparently never submitted any results to BOF before, so I guess there may be a delay if they haven't gone a results secretary registered.

Re: Results and Rankings.
Interesting to note that at the Midland Champs National A class event today ranking points have not been awarded to 6 of the eligible 14 classes due to low entry numbers:
http://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/i ... eday=54838
This seems a high proportion and again includes the longer courses. It is strange that at a Ranking Event only some courses are ranked.
It seems to be the case that if you go to an event and run the course you are expected to for your age e.g. Black you are unlikely to get ranking points, which are a fun way of gauging your performance against a single national list and trying to get more than 1000. Due to low entries for some age groups e.g. M/W21 it seems the only way to get ranked is to run shorter courses against older people. Shouldn't we be training to be able to run our own age group course well? Surely this course has been planned as the perfect length and technical test for our age, so it is worth preserving with the training to do it well.
As a way forward, could the system be adapted to provide non-counting ranking points in the case of low event entries? This would be better than no points at all. Not providing ranking points on Black/longer courses does not seem like a good way to encourage people to participate.
Anyway thanks NOR for an excellent event today.

Going back to where this thread started more than a year ago, two things appear to be eternal truths:

(BOF branding used in the spirit of affectionate homage. And will be removed if anyone objects.)
- people like to see their ranking points quickly
- orienteers like competitions.

Halfway along the road we have to go,
I found myself obscured in a great forest,
Bewildered, and I knew I had lost the way

I have just noticed ~ BOF now provide aa Association filter for the ranking list. I wonder how long it has been there ?

Not long, I think. I didn't notice it when I generated club rankings for our newsletter the week before last.
Must be tricky for BOF, trickling out enhancements to the web site. Do they announce every little thing, and risk more important news items being lost in the clutter? Or do they keep quiet and risk people not noticing an improvement which some have wanted? Whichever option they take, I'm sure someone will complain about poor communication!

Wow! I sent a message to BOF suggesting it would be a good idea a few weeks ago. I never got a reply (as usual), but at least they seem to have acted upon it. Perhaps loads of people suggested it.
It can't have been there long - I'm sure it wasn't there last time I looked a couple of days ago.
Great.

A nice event (although a bit wet) on some very runnable forest, even if not very technical. Enjoyed it and would very much hope that as advertised as a ranking event, results are submitted for this purpose.

Should have checked - they are indeed there already.

Re: Results and Rankings.
Is there any way of viewing all your ranking point scores for the current rolling year on the BOF website, or can you only view your current top (and counting) 6 scores?
This may well have been mentioned earlier in the thread, but I'm afraid I have not read all 32 pages to find out! Any advice greatly appreciated.

Nottingham University: September 2000 - September 2009. Staying in higher education for a decade is harder than you think.

Re: Results and Rankings.
You can only view your top six at the moment. I think viewing the whole lot is somewhere on the list of future features.

Very strange that it's not already in there, the database surely has all your scores in it, else it wouldn't know which new score to put in when one expires.
