Yes duplicates is a problem. In future I am going to have a database with BOF numbers which might help.
Apart from the keying on names my system is mostly automatic and is working well.

Re: Nopesport Urban League 2011
Hooray!
I have an old man gripe about the scoring system..is this appropriate?
Basically it works like this;
If ,an old person, say, Tim Tett or a wrong sex person say ran every Open Urban race in the league and won every one
I think it is possible for him not to win the senior open class or the relevant age class.
Now if this person doesn't run the right number of old age class courses that is fine, he hasn't qualified...but if he or she has run all the open courses surely the results should count.
Otherwise the best orienteer on the courses cold win all the races but won't win the league because he or she is too old or the wrong sex.
Does this make sense?
This may only be relevant to a few odd people but in a race surely the first person across the line is recognised as the winner

A quick look at the rules would suggest you are incorrect.
http://urbanleague.nopesport.com/#scoring
As I understand it, if you run "up" you will score for that class automatically UNLESS your own age class is also running the same course, in which case you will score for that class UNLESS you pre-advise the organiser that you are running up.
Different races will have different class/course combinations so you need to be on the ball if you are doing that.
As organiser of the Erskine event (No 2 on the list) I actually quite like the scoring system as it effectively encourages competitors to come to smaller events (we dont expect as many as Edinburgh for example) as they will score relatively higher - assuming that they are looking for Nopesport league points of course.

Given that his text appears to be entirely original and his name a pun, I think we should give Pa* the benefit of the doubt and assume he's a real person.

In that case apologies to Pa*. I guess the reference to Tim Tett and the post count of 1 made me too sceptical!

Re: Nopesport Urban League 2011
Back in the real world, the Urban League site now has the 2009 and 2010 results on it.
I used the old results to test the new upload facility and it proved to be smarter than me, correctly identifying a few people who'd erroneously been awarded points when running out of category. Hence some of the scores differ from the versions previously published, although I still don't beat Spookster.
Because the 'no BOF number, no points' rule is new this year, I allocated everyone a fake BOF number to ensure that everyone (including the foreign guests) scored.

Hmm
As a BOF member since 1973
I take exception to being classified as as a spambot.
.The cheek of it!
I just ran the long course each time because i am fit enough and wondered why the noble efforts I put in weren't just included in the list because I ran the course...if the youngsters can't keep up that's just tough. We old people have other challenges.

Re: Nopesport Urban League 2011
In the automatic upload system, the filtering rules on age class for a given category have minimum and maximum age classes. For the open categories in 2011 they're currently set to 1 and 99, so if you're uploaded as being in M Open (or W Open) then you'd have to be seriously old to get filtered out on age.
Men are removed from Women's categories but not vice versa.
I don't see what's wrong.

Re: Nopesport Urban League 2011
So if I (as an M40) run 8 urban events and run the longest course at all of them...and four of those events see M40 combined with Men Open and on the longest course, with the other four having M40 as a separate shorter course......then by default I score 4 events on Men Open and 4 events on M40, even though (at the most basic level) I entered 8 events and entered the longest course each time?
I think that was the point of the original question from non-spambot Pa - that if someone (clearly not me now!) who is an M40+ entered in that way and consistently won the Open course, their 8 wins would see their points split across two classes and would not give them the Open title - but surely should do.
Roger, I think you are saying that is correct and the way round it would be for anyone in that position to tell you that they want to be scored as Men Open not M40 at the events where the courses are combined? (Which I think is basically the same solution as is in place for the Masters Cup where the age class/course combinations are not always the same).

Almost: with CSV upload and automatic points calculation now in place, you score points in the category that the organisers use to tag you in the uploaded CSV file. So if you're tagged as MO you'll score points in that category, regardless of your age class. If you're tagged as MV you'll score points as a Vet unless your stated age-class makes you ineligible.
Although I'd be able to fix things behind the scenes, your best bet is to tell the organiser rather than telling me.

Re: Nopesport Urban League 2011
Just a wee note for those who have already entered the Erskine event on 2 April. The courses have been renamed 1-5 on Oentries to simplify things but this does not affect the classes or the NUL categories. Any queries please let me know.
