I'm probably better known as the older brother (I might say oldest, which is true, but it makes me feel my age) of Ewan McCarthy, former member of the GB foot-o squad. I started ski-orienteering about 6 years ago after being encouraged to go along to an event and give it a go by (at that time current) ski-o world champion Lena Hasselström who just happened to work at the university where I did my PhD. Indeed in latter years we worked in the same department.
The sport is pretty small even here in Sweden so folk tend to be delighted if you're willing to turn up and have a shot so if anyone fancies having a try then just go for it.
Have even done a few night races up in northern Sweden, a real treat for the senses and definitely something I would recommend
