Re: Results and Rankings.
The amended results, with the missing BOF numbers which were determined thanks to help on here, were sent to BOF last night. Thanks to all who helped

Re: Results and Rankings.
It seems like the gremlins have got into CHIG's Mitre results with some people now having taken 40+ hours to complete the green course. Interestingly the ranking points don't reflect these excessive times...

Yes - I see our club chairman has had his time in minutes turned into hours - when in fact he won the Green course. I'll get in touch with BOF.

Re: Results and Rankings.
It looks like all the courses have gone wonky, with the times under an hour being credited as hours (i.e 45 minutes has become 45 hours). Let's hope that it can be fixed or everyone will lose their points!

Alan - if you edited the CSV using a spreadsheet then that will probably be the cause of the problem. MS Excel coverts the times less than one hour into hours, when in fact they should be minutes. It's best to use a text editor rather than Excel to make edits, or else be very careful when you save from a spreadsheet that the resulting CSV looks right.

Re: Results and Rankings.
Pleased to see CHIG finally sorted
Now how about SOC's at Fritham on 5th Dec?
I e-mailed them before Xmas, but no reply.
Anyone out there know someone in SOC?
(and yes I am trying to get someone to upload Longmoor)

I am pleased to see that I am not the only person taking an active interest in the Ranking lists.

Re: Results and Rankings.
On 28th.November I attended a regional event at East Sherbrook. This was very well planned and organized by WCH in spite of the sub zero temperatures.
It is now 10th. January and the results have yet to appear on the BOF web site and therefore no ranking points have been allocated.
Why is this?
Is it because the procedure for putting results on the BOF site is too complicated?
Or is it because the clubs are not aware of the conditions involved in putting on a regional event?
Quoting from BOF rules regarding the ranking list it states: “1.2.1 All National (Level.1) Events and all Regional (Level 2) Events are required to contribute subject to the conditions in 1.2.2.”
It also states: “2.1.1 Final results must be submitted electronically to the results page in the British Orienteering web site within 7 days of the event. Results not uploaded within this period shall be excluded from Rankings calculations.”
I know that this last paragraph has not been adhered to in the past and rightly so in my opinion.
If it is adhered to then it punishes all the competitors in the event and there is no sanction applied to the offending club.
I realize that orienteering relies on volunteers and we can not afford to alienate these people. However it is important that officials at an event know of the responsibilities involved.

Re: Results and Rankings.
The ranking submission system was down over the XMAS period after the new British Orienteering site went live.
It has now been fixed and so the results have now been uploaded.
Apologies for them missing in the couple of weeks before XMAS I had the flu.

Re: Results and Rankings.
You wouldn't believe how many emails we've had about it over the last few weeks (this was the third enquiry today) - some more polite than others! I know other clubs have been struggling to upload their results to the ranking list, too, and some getting a little inside help.
There are certainly more than a few orienteers in the country who are interested in the rankings!

Re: Results and Rankings.
I've just noticed that the Southampton event on 5th Dec has now made it onto the results page - but with no ranking points attached.
Is this the Late Submission rule being applied? If so, I'll just re-iterate
1) The new BOF site wasn't accepting any uploads for about a month (and not telling anyone when it started accepting them)
2) unhappy with the idea of - if the organisers are inefficient then punish the competitor.
Come on, Spookster, get to it!

Many thanks Stoge and Stogetta - though there are no points showing against any course on the results on the BOF website. Has the BOF site / upload process perhaps not applied them because they are too late - which is itself because the site was not accepting them ?
