BTW, you just need Bringewood - that is the whole forest right down to Croft, not just the Shropshire Bit. "Mortimer Forest" is a recent F.C. invention which I really wish they would drop, originally it was their administrative name for all the South Shropshire/North Herefordshire estate - in the last few years it has been imposed on Bringewood. Frankly that sucks - Imagine someone deciding to call Cannock Chase "Cavendish Forest" or something.

If you need a name for the High Vinnalls bit, it is Haye Park or just the Deer Park.

I was really looking forward to this event, running around Ludlow is a long awaited treat, but as Monday is a work day, I cannot stay around for Sunday night. Hopefully the event will be on route gadget so I can see what my home town looks like on an O map. That Sunday thing was a real kick in the guts. (although the rather mean "Darby and Joan" comment mentions Saturday night)

I have just dug out one of the old maps - it is of the northwestern bit of the forest.


A lot of the white has been clear felled since this map was current, including the summit area which is a very fine viewpoint.
