IOF has announced new rules for orienteering effective from 1 Jan 2011
main changes as far as I can see:
Start interval at WOC Long to be 3 mins
WOC relay to be shortened: 90-105 mins overall, cf 120 / 135
Competitors in WOC & World Cup sprints will be required to run in swimwear
(one of these may not be true)

HAving competed in a mini-triathlon for the first time this year and therfore having had to run for about 100m in a pair of lime green swim shorts, I seriously hope the last one is true!!

Having waded through umpteen pages, I found the updates at the back.
Significant changes to the previous printed version (June 2009)
Rule references are to the new January 2011 rules (unless otherwise stated).
• 1.1 Definition of orienteering rewritten.
• 1.2 New definition for individual interval start races.
• 1.3 New definition for mass and chasing start races. Subsequent rules renumbered.
• 1.6 Reference to full membership of IOF removed (following removal of the
associate membership category)
• 1.16 Definition of Event Adviser
• JWOC 3.6 The programme shall be kept within 7 days (previously 6).
• WOC 4.5 Applications must be received by 1st January (not 31st)
• WCup 4.6 Applications must be received by 1st January (not 31st)
• JWOC WMOC 4.7 Applications must be received by 1st January (not 31st)
• WMOC 5.9 5-year age classes are provided for all those who enter.
• WMOC 6.14 The organiser should allow non-competitive runs in the lowest final for
those who did not start in one or more of the qualification races.
• WOC WCup JWOC 8.6 Extra point about quarantine zones for Bulletin 4.
• WMOC 9.15 New rule defining earliest closing date for entries.
• WOC 12.15 Long distance start interval changed to 3 minutes.
• WMOC 12.17 Requirement to run heats simultaneously has been removed.
• WOC 16.9 Relay winning times reduced.
• JWOC 16.10 Relay winning times reduced.
• 21.4 GPS data loggers with no display or audible feedback can be used.
• WOC 22.14 This rule now only applies to WOC (and World Games).
• WOC WCup JWOC 22.16 Definition of quarantine zones.
• 23.3 Reduced minimum finish width for interval start races.
• 26.2 (June 2009 version) Rule removed. Subsequent rules renumbered.

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg
