PVG Scheme won’t just collect and disclose vetting information. It will also assess it

Scottish Ministers have waived the fees for PVG checks for volunteers doing unpaid; regulated work in the voluntary sector in Scotland. This includes sports
clubs/organisations.

Good, I have 3 separate disclosures which seems very silly, but have never needed one for the only job where I see kids naked!

I wonder if changes to the disclosure scheme are likely in England - I do hope so! I also have several separate ones, which seems so unnecessary.

It implies that the agency will actually look at the data and advise you where not to employ someone.

Previously it just passed along the volunteers info to the SOA without comment, leaving us to figure whether someone's "violation of section 27.3 paragraph 13 clause 4 of the Road Traffic Act" meant someone had an unpaid parking fine or twenty eight convictions for drunk driving. The only time I bothered, it was the parking fine. We decided, on balance, after careful consideration, that this person was OK to drive a minibus (Yes, I was the only one sad enough to chase up the facts).

That sounds very similar to the proposed Vetting and Barring Scheme for England, Wales and NI, which has been put on indefinite hold by the new government.

probably because the current system allows a private company to charge each time someone has to make multiple submissions - and we all know how much private enterprise loves government contracts and the current government loves (some) private enterprises (those that give large donations to it).

Though I admire your cynicism, in this case I doubt it is a love of the current CRB check-provider which has led the coalition to put a hold on the new scheme, given Capita's track-record of making multi-million pound donations(/off-the-books "loans") to the Labour Party.

The whole criminal-records system is currently currently under review by the Home Office, with a report expected in the new year.
