Pretty sure BOC 1978 at Tentsmuir, M21E was also more than 17 km.

I think Eddie's memory is slightly off. M21E was 16.7km with 150m of climb. Steve Hale did 77.27 to win. I was pretty happy with 100.08, especially as it meant I wasn't last. But I was very close to last.
The British on Tentsmuir in 1978 was 17.3km. Brian Bullen won it in 98.49.

Happy to help you out

I remember hitting the wall big time - the last 4km took me twice as long as the first 4km

Why did I do that...

Re: SHI 2010
Just seen an email from Lorna wondering what the unengraved SHI trophy was for.... was bought in Wales some years ago for the individual so we could present something on Saturday night.... think it was actually a sugar bowl... I found it in some antique shop... greetings to the boys & girls from Cuba

Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

Re: SHI 2010
England are leading overnight with 28 points to Scotlands 24. Scotland won the Men's relay, England the Women's.
All to play for in the Individual today then.

I don't think 'Long Black' appears anywhere in an official Guideline.
It's a lightweight (english) version of Deep Black

Re: SHI 2010
Despite my slightly epic time on Long Black, I would like to say a big thank you to the planner, who managed to create (at least from my perspective) a very entertaining course out of what looked at first glance like a not very promising area.

Apologies to those who've had trouble with RouteGadget for the event. The correct courses are now available here: http://www.soc.routegadget.co.uk/soc/re ... d=9&kieli=

djc - are you sure about that ?
The Short Wayfarers looks suspiciously like the Very Short Green Course to me. No wonder those novices took such a long time!
