Topless?

This is all wrong. It's the fat boys who need to get their tops off cos we sweat more. This vetting procedure is giving the already highly tuned even more of an edge. I'd rather see a handicap system whereby the skinnier you are the more fleeces you have to run in.

i personally will be keeping my o-top firmly in the ON position. It would be unfair and irresponsible to subject the masses to a flash of my unsightly bulk.

We did think about applying it as a team tactic in the CSC final - if a man from an opposing club looked like he was going well, there was an idea that the women could flash their sports bras at him and put him off.
Wish we had gone for it, looking at the results!

Would this be the same kind of "fit" that Flarkey is talking about in the "Why Nope?" thread (page 3) - (sorry no pun intended) in the Banter section?
Maybe...

Speak for yourself. I need a gut cradle not a sports bra!

It's a slippery slope.
Once you let people go out topless, they'll start wanting to take off other bits of clothing. Pretty soon there'll be naked orienteers running about.
Not that you'd get any top-class orienteers indulging in that kind of tomfoolery. Oh no.

Please, no!
This is "topless", not "bottomless"
Men with no top on is great (most of the time), but when God invented mens bits, he got it sadly wrong. Most unattractive.
However, I do feel a new topic in the air (probably more suited to Banter)....

This did go a bit of subject didn't it so I guess whichever Nope God moved this to Banter was probably right.
Looks like the poll results say basically that if I get too hot I should take my top off cos only 2 people apart from me think it's cheating.

was it Urban André???
if its an open area and its baking hot, like BOC next year, then its good to go topless. ifs its a minging forest, like every white rose, then cant be a good idea.
let people do what the want i reckon, but put some sue-preventing recomendation on the details.

No idea who urban andre is.
The time in question with said M20 was on Burrator last September and in fairness it's a mostly open area and therefore in principal not a problem. However I was out there myself sweating with a top on for almost 100 mins playing by the rules. Said M20 didn't pass me until we were in the trees at the end. Possibly a good time to put the top back on? So if you really want to know who it was look for an M20 running up at last year's Caddihoe.
The other time was a couple of weeks ago at Crich chase and yes it was hot but in fairness I wouldn't wanted to have run without a top there anyway.

If you're going to not want to wear an O-top then why not buy a really well ventilated one. The purpose of the O-top is partly to protect your upper body from damage from the terrain, which is why the IOF have made it a rule. If you dont want to run with a miniamlly-ventalated top, then instead of risking damage and possibly disqualification buy a good quality well ventilated top. It might even feel better than running without one on at all.
Bloody naturists.
I ran without an o-top on tour and was suprised. I expected to feel no difference but I felt free and it made for a more enjoyable experience- it felt quite natural.
