See if I can get a serious answer to my question?
I know I'm being really Anal about this, but I need to know what [nope] stands for.
Tell me, dammit, you bunch of sweaty socks!!!
... no offence, like.

why is it such a big deal? everyone else just talks jobby or orienteering and doesn't worry about the name.
maybe you would be better off at yepsport.com???
maybe when we've got our work out of the way at [nope] hq we'll sit down and write a concise history and meaning of [nope] but more than likely we won't bother... it adds a sense of intruige to some. perhaps if you search deep enough into the realms of this board the answer may have already been uncovered....

Hmmm,
Just got PM'ed with the answer to my question, seems fair enough. If you want to keep it a secret, dead on, gives the brand name a sense of intrigue.
And those in the know, know what it is. Kinda like a Bat-sign to other O-ers.
I think the t shirts etc should be standard issue to all O-ers under the age of 30, cos I know what I'd say if someone offered me an Ultrasport 70'S Style pyjama suit to wear!
Now I can continue to post sensible crap on the forum!!

glad you are happy now!
remember folks, a small number of [nope] tshirts are still available to buy, check them out over on the [nope] cartel website before they all go... available to all good homes. and some bad ones as well.

What has age got to do with Nope-ing?
Well, i thought [nope] was all about promoting and talking about O-ing to for younger O-ers?
30 was just an off the wall age ( and partly due to the fact that I am 28, and am dreading 30 like the proverbial kick in the balex).
I know I'm new here, and newish to orienteering, and don't wanna tread on anyones toes. And I didnt say that over-30s couldn't wear the shirts, just that they should be the thing to wear for the under 30s, as opposed to the dreadful Ultrasport costumes.
But then, how uncool do I look in my Ron Hills and long sleeve adidas top? 'Spose its whatever you feel comfortable in... innit?

Flarkey - what awful [nope]ing thing do you think is going to happen to you when you turn 30 - you will be very disappointed I can tell you when you wake up on that dreaded morning and you feel just the same.
Next year I will be 50 - this is very good news as it means from Jan1st I will be knocking the [nope] out of all the other W50s (well that's what I've promised myself anyway) After all - looking at it any other way is pretty dire and we are all heading in the same direction - so free yourself up. I'm sure everyone else will correct me if I'm wrong but nope is not about being under 30 - it's about what's going on in your head

Whoa!!! haul' on there Mrs H,
You've taken this way too seriously, i'm not trying to say [nope] or O-ing is for older/younger people... as I said ....
I thought it was. Maybe its not, just the fact that much of the people here (or who run the site) seem to be Edinburgh students, and the pics on the gallery are of young fit (and some very fit) poeple. Note I say 'seem'. From my few days on this board, this is the impression I have, maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong.
I'm usually wrong.
Whatever it is, is a great site for Oing, and particularly, but not exclusively, young Oers.
