There are so few long distance orienteering races in the calendar that it would be a pity to miss the Copeland Chase this year. http://www.copelandchase.org.uk/ The 20k longer course is always a good test of fitness and stamina, and a chance to try and beat the trophy holder, Steve Birkinshaw.
The event moves around the West Cumbrian fells and has been on some very extensive, specially mapped areas in recent years. Last year it was on Eskdale Tarns in the shadow of Scafell. This year it is closer to the motorway, therefore very accessible, on the western side of Ullswater.
They recently moved the parliamentary constituency boundary of Copeland northwards to include Keswick (I think!) so High Brow isn't that far outside Copeland District!
We really need a website to promote these long distance O events.... good training for the WOC Classic courses!

Re: Copeland Chase 2010
There are some entry details on http://www.lakes-o.com if interested. The area is very runnable, and sufficiently detailed to give a great orienteering race. There are often complaints about there not being enough of the 'proper' length elite courses, and colour coded events that don't have a black course! Well.... try this one!

A quick bump for this one...
Come and see if you can take Steve B's trophy off him, it's three years in a row now!
Limited EOD available so get your entry in this weekend to secure a map.
