Re: Caddihoe Chase 2010
its unfair on other juniors who try really hard and run fairly to try and get selected for two juniors to CHEAT !

Re: Caddihoe Chase 2010
And if it is so would you really expect young juniors to know the rules?
No, but they should have had enough sense not to start one minute apart in a selection race.
One of the benefits of electronic punching is the ability to spot incidents like this, which hopefully the selectors will take into account when looking at the results.

But surely for selection purposes an M14 should not have been running the blue course anyway - by doing so he must surely have declared himself not trying for selection

I think restrictions on how close together clubmates can start are only in the rules for the CSC and YBT, so the organisers have done nothing wrong in this case. It is a rule that would only really make sense in inter-club competitions.

no because top year m14 must run the m16 course to qualify for interland because interland is in march next year and the top year m14 will be m16 then

Other people top year m14 who all went down to the start together did purposly start at least 5 mins apart.

Re: Caddihoe Chase 2010
they obviously started a minute apart on purpose so that ben would catch nik up and they could go round together and they would both have had an advantage because they would have had twice as good navigation and they could have physically pushed each other along that is why its CHEATING !

"You Cheated" " No I didn't" repeated endlessly is something that is very boring.

Well said

Still, nik and speedy123 would probably be pretty bored by endless discussion about the minutiae of the ranking list or the number of events levels we should have. To each his own

Re: Caddihoe Chase 2010
Oops. I'm sure Bart wasn't really intending to accuse anyone of cheating. His (and my) point was simply that there should have been allocated start times. That way all this fuss could have been avoided. Relying on teenagers to police themselves at the start (and avoid starting too close to one another) obviously doesn't work.
I would have thought that being nominated as a selection race should come with the requirement to allocate start times. Is this not the case? If not, then maybe it is something for the selectors to think about. The other selection races are coming up over the next couple of months.

Please don't block the thread - it's the first time we've had a junior debate for years

Agree Mrs H - its as entertaining as anything on here the last while!
It would make sense to have some sort of seeding or wider start intervals for selection races if thats not already in the event guidelines. Any comments from the controller?
