The 2011 JK organising team are pleased to announce discounted car hire rates courtesy of Budget Car Rental Ireland at http://www.budget.ie/promotions

10% will be discounted off any of the quoted rates with the issued code. This will apply to any cars hired in Northern Ireland and Ireland including all the main airports and Belfast City Centre.

It's still very expensive! £375 for a small car for 12 days, beginning at Belfast and ending in Dublin after then Irish Cahmps

Tatty - I think you'd be able to get your own car out for around £200 thus saving money on the rental and air fare a little bird told me there might be some offer on ferry crossings up and coming

Mrs H is right - we're trying to finalise arrangements with Stena (Stranraer/Belfast and Holyhead/Dublin) and Irish Sea Ferries (Holyhead/Dublin and Pembroke/Rosslare).

P&O refused to help so we'd prefer not to promote their routes!

Looks like Stena has a Fleetwood-Larne route as well, which would be good from Sheffield - well over half the distance to the JK on a ferry.

It's Easter that's expensive:
I just tried Holiday Autos, returning car to collection point from 22/4 to 2/5. Belfast cheapest £267, Dublin an astonishing £455. (Astonishing because Which? has just found Ireland the cheapest place in Europe to hire a car.)

Puzzled I tried a month earlier. 10 days hire from Dublin was down to £126. If only the JK were in March,,,,

Checked Dublin and agree with you, Mrs H.

Tried Car Hire 3000 and Easycar and neither are booking more than 6 month ahead. So maybe Holiday Autos price would go down if I tried in October.
