White Rose - Super Veteran Me(n)
Excellent event with lots of variety. It was a last minute decision to run, so pleased to get in two regional events in my Blue class. Day 1 was a soaking and a long time in the woods, Day 2 was 20 minutes faster and a lot more pleasant. The night score was a sensible 30 minutes (once everyone found the event eventually) and in a rare flash of brilliance (or was that a Silva beam) I found myself runner up in the Super Veteran's Men, just one control short of Eddie's total of 21. I timed mine to perfection, with just 5 seconds to go
. Eddie must have been regretting getting in 3 or 4 minutes early and I was left wondering if i could maybe have squeezed in another couple of controls. The event centre was great - a huge camping field and with enough wind blowing to keep any noise from the Youth Camp well away. Just looking forward to seeing all these results up...

Re: White Rose - Super Veteran Me(n)
Well the only reason that I checked at my watch for the first time EVER in a score event was that I was so knackered I thought I'd stick to the 30 minute limit.
Mind you had I worked it out, I should have gone for them all as usual. With 10 points per control and only 5 per minute late, with controls coming in at only just over every minute, I'd clearly score more getting the lot.
Anyway it was a very good area for the event, although not quite as brilliant as the sprint.

Agree, sprint was fun and the night event equally enjoyable.
I think the organising team did a good job of matching the forest to the competition.
The Sprint area worked well and was probably the only piece of truly "White" wood!
The Night area was great considering your trying to have one course accommodating the likes of Eddie Harwood (
)Oli Johnson & Nick Barrable through to the huge number of Juniors.
The Relay felt right for the 5th event in 3 days (or 9th in 8 if you went to the Lakes).
The winning times for the individual looked about right.
The weather was actually OK overall.
Camping field was excellent.
Thoroughly enjoyable weekend
Thanks EBOR
