Anyone going out to this?
http://www.wcup2010.fr/
£50 return flights to Geneva, so fairly cheap at the moment.
How do you enter the public events? - the entry form on the event website appears to be aimed at teams rather than individuals.
Have emailed the organisers, but no response as yet.

Don't know the answer to the question, but doesn't the 'Welcome to the department* of Haute-Savoie! introduction' just make you want to go to reward their obvious enthusiasm.

Have you tried.... <National weekend><Entries> - which appears to take on-line individual entries?
(You may have found the World Cup entry form instead)

Should be an excellent event.
Don't forget that you will need to provide a medical certificate in line with the French orienteering regulations.

Re: Annecy World Cup weekend - October 2nd/3rd
A couple of bits of advice please
1) Transfer from geneva to Annecy. Train or car hire?
2) This medical certficate business. Someone was telling me recently a BOF card would do - but I'm not convinced. I think there was a thread on this a while back. what's the latest?
Thanks

Loofa,
Car parking in Annecy is restricted and expensive, particularly near the old town, and there appears to be transport supplied by the organisers to get to the events.
There is a direct bus service from Geneva Airport:

Getting there by train is fairly convoluted, mainly because you have to get across Geneva and switch to the French rail system. Timetables at:

Not that I endorse that sort of thing, but people have been known just to fake their medical certificate.
Race organisers in France will never check (nor care) whether Dr. Smith in Birmingham actually exists, as long as they've got an official looking piece of paper...

Madmike/Daviemoore
Thanks for those links
Medical certificate
Since that thread it looks like things have moved on and clarified. Now I've looked at the web-site properly I've found it contains a standard certficate (in English!!) that you can take to your GP (or fake in so inclined - note need doctor's stamp). No mention of vaccinations.
Geneva -Annecy.
This is less clear.
There is a convenient bus on Friday afternoon leaving an hour after the gatwick flight gets in. But on Sunday the only bus is due to get in only 35 mins before the last flight - so not a go-er. However there is a bus 2 hours earlier to the main bus station - so something must work out of that.
As for trains, getting across Geneva does look nightmarish with umpteen connections using every conceivable means of transport.
Either way I suspect a taxi may be resorted to at some point
I did check out trains from St pancras to Annecy but
- at £214 return is hugely more expensive than a flight (3-4 times as much)
- train back on Sunday leaves at 15.35 which with bussing to that day's race looks too tight.
The flights I want have just gome up £5 - b****r. better go and book something

Note your GP will probably charge for the stamp - I got a doctor friend to do mine for Carcassonne, which they never asked to look at...
