Special to Doug Tullie who was a mere 6.03 down on the leg winner over 11.3kms, and Mharky who was 5.17 down over 9.8kms.
All that coaching from Toni at EUOC is working a treat. All bar one of the team are current EUOC members, and Rocky has only been left a couple of years.

Why can't British orienteers have the same attitude to the Harvester as Finnish ones obviously do to Jukola? The shear numbers make it such an amazing experience. The courses were long, but I didn't hear one complaint....

Thats a good point. Is night orienteering a bigger thing in Finland than it is in the UK due to the lack of daylight in winter?

The harvester isn't really on the radar of our club, FVO is the only Scottish club that I know goes. Our club only has a couple of night orienteers though.
I see we had a SoSOL locally that weekend and there were lots of English colour coded events so it maybe needs to be hyped more and less stuff in competition with it to get a big turnout, plus being nearer to Scotland if more Scottish teams to participate.
Our club would probably need to work on encouraging people to do individual night o events before folk had the confidence to be in a relay.
Does the harvester have adhoc teams? If keen night orienteers from different clubs could make up a team (and still be counted as competitive as in the Jukola) then you may get more entrants and the reports of those orienteers in club newsletters might encourage others/ publicise the event.

Becuase the Jukola is the best orienteering event in the world, and the Harvester isn't...

Not officially, though this year SOS and SUFFOC combined but were listed in the final results as non - competitive. Assume teams with combined clubs are competitive at Jukola/Venla?

You don't have to be a club to run Jukola, you get a lot of company teams or just a bunch of mates e.g. IOF Council, Helsinki Taxi Team, Never Lost...

I wouldn't travel to be non-competitive in a relay. I think it's a shame we do make non club teams non-competitive. My son has suffered from this policy at the scottish champs where we often don't have enough juniors for a team, this year he was old enough to team up with the grownups.
I think provided all the good folk from different clubs don't get together and form a "superteam" when they could have ran for their clubs as their clubs had enough folk it would be good to be more relaxed about this rule.
Presume it would need to go though BOF AGM to get passed and possibly alot of folk would be more concerned about "superteams" emerging than encouraging runners from smaller/ less relay inclined clubs to have a competitive run.
