Men's map & course here: http://www.eoc2010.bgorienteering.com/m ... _f_men.jpg
leg 6 to 7 looks a monster... interesting to see the routes when they are available... obvious one looks the paths to the left... seems a bit long with a winning time of 104 mins.
Shame there were no Brits in the final (or did I miss someone?). Must be the first time in many, many years that we've had no qualifiers for the 'blue ribbon' event at a major champs.

Re: EOC LONG
I want to see Simone's route on the women's leg 6-7 which looks almost identical to the men's. She did it in an astonishing time, which perhaps won her the race.
Personally I'd have probably lost the will to live just looking at that leg, though I can see a route I would have pinned my hopes on.
Was the stream/river in the valley crossable? Presume so, as legs go directly across later on the course. Wonder also how thick the pale green was.
What's with all the DNS's? Has there been an epidemic?
Respect.

Simones map (with route) off her website: http://www.simoneniggli.ch/download/9/a ... m_lang.jpg
She pretty much just red lined it through the valley.

Re: EOC LONG
thanks for the link. I could really only see that way as a "fast" viable route, but thought maybe with option to have crossed the water twice if the east side open was less rocky and more runnable than the west.
Have you got any useful links as to what the forest looked like on the ground?

In dry weather there is no water in the river - the bed is runnable and crossable (subject to steep rocky banks in some places). It looked as though it may well become uncrossable if very wet, but I assume this would depend on the time of year (I was there in September but I expect June would also be dry).
