Entries are now open for this year's Phoenix with full information on http://www.newcastleorienteering.org.uk ... oenix.html
We are using SI Entries this time so please have a look at that site or follow the link from the Phoenix site. This year it's another great area, just west of the College Valley and centred round Mounthooly hostel - this is very comfortable and reasonably priced. Camping is also available next to the hostel.
Once again with support from Montane there will be around £1,000 of prizes on offer - I think there is something like 24 prizes so it's not just the best who will win things.
On a final note it isn't anywhere near Kielder for those who have unhappy memories of that event.

Despite my personal nightmare there a couple of years ago; I must state that there is nothing wrong with Kielder per se. As you (freefall) can affirm we expect anyone going to the Kielder Trophy tomorrow will actually find the area surprisingly runnable and it was very pleasant getting the controls out today. (freefall is controlling and I'm planner).
freefall has, he tells me, made his usual weather arrangements.......

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg
