you can get a virgin train direct from new street to edinburgh central (although they call it somthing different). i dont know when it leaves, but it comes from bournemouth abut 3 times a day. Its the sweet new ones aswell. Book atleast 14 days in advance and its very cheap, get seats aswel as they can fill up.
i didnt know there was an open day

Everyone seems very eager to persuade young girls to stay overnight at their flats.
I just flew up for the day (from Stansted) for my open day last year. It cost surprisingly little and I didn't really have to leave early.

Aye, but for the FULL Edinburgh Uni experience a night stay at Mr Dickalots would be essential for a true representation of life at Edinburgh if you chose to go there!!
You can't expect to reach the top without a little climbing!

If the 'burgh is only your second choice, what's the first? or would telling us that cause a bit of controversy?

direct flights from birmingham to edinburgh. cheap as well, compares to the train. however 18/19th june is friday/saturday so not so cheap (£69, just checked). if you fly thursday/monday and make a long weekend of it then it'll be a load cheaper.
