It strikes me that there must be a number of people out there who have purchased SI and/or EMIT cards and who no longer use them for one reason or another.
If so, is there any sort of second hand market in them? They'd have to be re-registered of course, but I assume that wouldn't be a problem (?)
[If anyone has an unwanted bog-standard EMIT card, could they pm me please?]

Re: Unwanted e-cards
How long does the battery last in an EMIT card? That would affect its value if it's several years old.

I think EMIT card battery is guaranteed for 5 years (I know this because I've had two fail within 5 years and got them kindly replaced for free).

Re: Unwanted e-cards
My understanding is that the EMIT "5 year guarantee" is not quite that.
If there's a failure in year 1, you get a replacement free.
If in year 2, you get a replacement at 20% of cost of a new card.
Year 3, 40%
Year 4, 60%
Year 5, 80%.
Not quite a 5-year guarantee - rather, a 1 year guarantee with discounted replacement for a further 4 years.
