I've just noticed that I've missed the last entry date for the UK Cup Final. No EOD and no late entries.
I had planned on going to this event which is advertised as part of the British Champs weekend. It wasn't possible to enter at the same time as entering the British and I therefore assumed that entries would be available up until a week or so before the event as is the norm these days. I wonder how many others have been caught out in the same way?
Looks like I'll be doing something else on May Day.

Hmm, I too have missed it, and in fact I hadn't even realised there was a third event in the "British weekend" this year.

Golf?

Re: Entry dates
The British Orienteering entries page for the event currently reads:
...so, if planning to enter, I would understandably be a bit miffed if they did indeed open and close entries while still having it as TBC on this page.
Maybe the event registration process need to be tightened up a bit to prevent lots of "TBC" events from cluttering up the database?
Online/Postal Entries Open: TBC

Re: Entry dates
Same story here - I hadn't decided whether to run it or not, but thought I'd check out the details this morning... Looks like the decision's been made for me! Ah well, I had assumed it'd have a different/later closing date than BOC being that it isn't part of BOC, isn't being organised by WCH and has a seperate entry system, but I should've read the details better first time round.

Bart would be keen, but none of the Simpson women happen to play golf.

Re: Entry dates
With the declining participation figures especially at M/W 21 it does seems a bit silly * to turn away custom.

Re: Entry dates
There must be a good reason behind this. The instigator / planner of this competition is the BOF Event Manager so I'd be surprised if BOF were unaware of deadlines etc etc
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

Re: Entry dates
I'm still confused by this ... the BOF website has this event on 3rd May as "Stafford Sprint" with no details against it ... whereas the WCH BOC 2010 website lists it as a Middle Race.
I had assumed Middle and Sprint are different genre? Are they? When will there be more details available? With two-and-a-half weeks to go someone must know

Middle Race - UK Cup Final
This event is open to all. There is no qualification necessary for the UK Cup Final.
The event will take place at MOD Stafford, formerly an RAF equipment station. The terrain is a mix of urban and parkland. The competition is likely to take the form of a middle / city race with a planned winning time of 35 minutes.
Course distances will range from approx 2km to 7km
middle distance it is..

Re: Entry dates
So the only difference between middle / city / sprint is the expected winning time? I thought a Middle race would be a shorter version of conventional cross-country O event. And that City / Sprint events are in a more urban environment?
Forgive my ignorance ... never done anything other that conventional Regional and Local events.

Re: Entry dates
Final details for the UK Cup Final can be found towards the back of those for the British Champs, available on the British Champs website. Best descriptor looks to be "urban" - with a 30-35min winning time, akin to most city races.
