Nottingham City Race
The sun is shining in Nottingham
and we are looking forward to welcoming competitors to the first Nottingham City race and Nopesport Urban league event. Lots of late entries on Fabian mean that there are very few maps left for EOD. If you want a run and have not pre entered then you will have to be at registration early.

Re: Nottingham City Race
Most enjoyable outing at Nottingham today - very impressive assembly area beneath the big wheel. The courses were quite straightforward and fast without too much tricky stuff but we went to some very nice places (although I was hoping we might get down to canal level- maybe next time) very well organised and there was a very good atmosphere. (Mind you I felt a bit sorry for the very last finishers as the finish got moved 10 yards further back at the end)!
Thanks to all concerned and the very speedy results which were up before we got home

The Men's Open got down to the canal, with a classic left-or-right leg to work out which bridge to take to get across it.
It was the most spectacular assembly location I've ever known for a urban race (so far...):

Stop talking, start running.

Re: Nottingham City Race
Not the most technical urban race ever, but thoroughly enjoyed it - great to be able to run again after a couple of months or so layoff. It's only when you can't do you really realise how you miss things like this! Great organisation and setting, nice clear map - thanks NOC.
BTW did anybody spot the crossable 'uncrossable barrier' coming out of 23 on course 1 and 19 on course 2 on the northern route? Think it should have been a canopy symbol. Threw me for a few seconds coming down the road to 19.

Really good day out involving car, tubes, legs and trains - and well worth the trip. Thanks NOC - looking forward to next year
.
AWK,
I didn't even see there was a northern option, must have been oxygen debt

Apparently it's a pair of 'bridge parapet' lines, printed close together. I saw the bridge on the ground, identified it on the map and used it to help me into 19. Then ran under it on the way out, without thinking that the symbol on the map implied an uncrossable barrier: I 'knew' already what it represented.

I think he was trying to sell you the Big Issue! So if the finish was moved back 10 metres, does that explain how you came to beat me today?!

Re: Nottingham City Race
A reasonably planned course, tho a bit too straightforward for me and definitely a runners course. Loved the route throught the Park Tunnel, tho a stiff climb up the steps.
Would have been nice to go Inside the Castle walls.
Great Assemble/start/finish area, so thanks NOC
