Re: JK 2010 Wheal Florence Event
I e mailed to reserve maps but have just read Mrs H's post on Eden and realised I haven't specified which courses! So I suppose I'd better try again - didn't get any reply to 1st email though so hope it went to correct address.
Looking forward to it!

Re: JK 2010 Wheal Florence Event
We're printing small sample 'warm-up' maps with controls to visit for use before competing to allow for terrain familiarisation in view of the unaccustomed scale and contour interval of 1:2500 and 1.25m respectively.
Make sure you reserve your map by emailing the organiser stating which course you wish to run.

Re: JK 2010 Wheal Florence Event
To reduce the workload on Registration, the organiser is asking people to enter online via Fabian 4 by tomorrow (Wed) including those who have already emailed to reserve a map (NB your reservation will be honoured whether or not you do this). The printer can't print later than this because he is bringing the course-overprinted maps for me to collect at the JK Sprint at Bicton. We'll try to estimate enough extra maps for EOD, but won't be able to guarantee you a non-recycled map. We want to avoid having to recycle on the day if at all possible.
Thanks for your cooperation

Re: JK 2010 Wheal Florence Event
Glad you posted the info on pre entering via Fabian4. Just spotted it in time this evening. I notice however that there is no mention of this on the main JK web site.

Re: JK 2010 Wheal Florence Event
Thanks for the prompt. I've asked the Webmaster to post about entries via Fabian4.
(By the way, Nath Fernandes hopes to be able to come to Bicton.)

Entries have now closed on Fabian 4. All map reservations by email to the organiser will be honoured whether or not you subsequently entered via Fabian 4. We're printing 50% extra maps for each course for EOD. I hope you all get a run on an unrecycled map!

Re: JK 2010 Wheal Florence Event
just sitting at Wheal Florence in the afternoon sunshine after runing around the extraordinary terrain. A very interesting area - tho smaller / narrower than exxpected, but just about enough tecnicality as we zig-zagged from one side of the area to the other up the slope and back down again, up and down the many gullies and depressions. A great sight to see a few dozen orienteers walking / runing all over the area - a few scrathcing their heads, but overall a very enjoyable apres-jk event.
Thanks Devon OC
Looking forward to running in the Biomes of Eden Project tomorrow - after visiting them as a tourist at the weekend.

Brilliant event, thankyou Devon OC. I've never seen or competed in anything like it, such a small area with such technicality. It took me about 9 controls before I had a plan and that was only on the short technical course with 14 controls to go!

Still think it was the best event of the weekend, although both days on Braunton run it close.
Such a shame the area is due to be buried in China Clay waste.

That really would be a shame.
I tend to agree that this was the best event of the week. GG told me it was some of the best fun he'd had with a map.
Thanks to SWOA for a fantastic week's entertainment.
If anyone picked up a child's coat at Wheal Florence please pm me.

I think Ian probably met the same dog walker I did, who told me it would be done 'over his dead body'.
