Given that it's the next closing date for relay entries today (damn early if you ask me), can anyone confirm if the British Relays 'age class' competitions are for 'all competitors in or over that age class' or 'average age class of' please?
eg.
can an M55, M60, M65 compete competitively in the M60 class?

Re: British Relays

No. The M60 relay is for people who can run competitively at M60 (eg M75s, W60s and 59 year-olds who haven't had a birthday this year).

In this egalitarian age, I have always thought it would be more appropriate to call all 'M' relay classes 'Open' e.g., Open60+, and maybe as a precursor to calling all individual 'M' classes 'Open'

where a spade is at last called a spade and the last vestiges of male chauvinism are discarded.

But then maybe when we girlies run the men's courses, we feel
(except when there are numerous streams to cross where only those over 5'8" stay dry)

Re: British Relays
Andy D is very right to question this.
At the district relay Champs in Stockholm last year, I couldnt understand why we had one of our M35s in the M40s (120+) relay team. It would seem in Sweden, it is the sum of the ages of the competitors on the day which counts. So the a team of M80, M10, M21 would be fine!

Re: British Relays
I still couldn't find an 'official' source for this, so I just entered teams (with my one M55 running in the men's short)
The British site says 'this is explained on the SI site' and the SI site doesn't explain. The BOF guidelines are focussed on coruse planning and not team composition.
Oh well, fun times.

The event rules are the "official" source. Event Rule G (British Relay Champs) lists the available classes, and one of them is M60. You're runners have to be eligible in M60, as Graeme said.
