Headcam
Inspired by Tero, I'd like to run now and again with a headcam. Obviously the resulting videos will lack somewhat in the excitement department, but I think headcam films are good for promoting the sport and for coaching. I'm wondering if any British orienteers have tried running with a camera, and what sort of cameras would be suitable. This one is available in the local Aldi for £30, but it seems to be mainly designed to attach to a helmet: http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/sp ... 12511.htm#

Re: Headcam
Have you seen this - looks a great piece of kit but pricey at about £200 and not sure where you'd get one from over here:

Re: Headcam
There is quite a lot of experience on various cycling forums on bike and head mounted video cameras. E.g. look at:
http://www.cyclechat.net/forums/showthread.php?t=52142
I've got one of the cameras you're thinking of. It was OK mounted on a bike but is unpleasantly heavy to carry on your head. A much better introduction would be to get a Veho Muvi or a cheap Muvi clone (search eBay or similar for MD80, you may also have to buy a memory card). I also have one of these are they are _much_ smaller and lighter than the ActionCam. The Muvi also produces better pictures, especially in lower light. I can happily cycle with one clipped on to a hat or headband. The only downside of the Muvi is that it is not waterproof, and does not survive even a gentle 40C wash
Of course there are much more professional solutions at much more professional prices (e.g. http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/ ) but the Muvi will give a good introduction to what might be possible.

Re: Headcam
I have been playing with one since Christmas - and one of our juniors has used it for a GCSE project. I got it from http://www.sport-cam.co.uk
It's based on the light weight ones put on MTB helmets but comes with a head strap and I put the battery and recorder in a bun bag.
Are you going to JK? As I can show you there.
Edited to correct URL so that it works!
