The cheap rail tickets are on line, caravans are getting booked up.......Everybody is keen, but is this event gong to happen???
Does anyone have a flyer? Are there to be week end deals to stay at Perran Sands??

It better be, the missus and me are already booked to fly down from East Mids especially for it!

Re: Tamar Triple 2010
I had the following exchange with the organiser but its 6 weeks ago
Hi Lynden
I'm sure that there will be a facility for camping but I'm awaiting confirmation at present. As soon as I have more details I'll let you know.
Kind regards
Rod Allday

Hello Rod
We are very excited to see that the Tamar Triple is being held at Penhale this year - are you yet in a position to know whether we will be able to camp there as we have done in previous years?
Best wishes and good luck

It is going ahead. There's now some more info on the Tamar Triple website.

Re: Tamar Triple 2010
Thanks for the info Scott.
Do you happen to know whether all 3 events are accessible on foot from the caravan / campsite? I know they're all on Penhale but could be on the other side I guess.
Basically I'm trying to figure out whether I could get away without having a car. Newquay airport is only 10 miles away so was thinking of flying in and then cabbing it to the caravan site rather than renting a car.
Thanks!

Re: Tamar Triple 2010
The MOD charge £5 per vehicle for parking at the northern end, so I would expect that all three days will be within walking distance of the campsite, but I'm afraid I don't know for certain. Probably best to email the organiser - address here.
The Perran Sands campsite/holiday park is served direct by a bus (the 587) from Truro rail station, in case anybody is inclined to travel down by train. I'm afraid there's no convenient bus from Newquay airport, where the public transport connections are generally a bit rubbish.

Looks from the grid references on the BritO fixture list http://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/event/findevent.php?evt_assoc=9&evt_start_datefmt=1&evt_start_d=29&evt_start_m=5&evt_start_y=2010&bSearch=Search as if Day One starts on the northern edge of the map. If it's a nice day, a 3km walk first along the beach and then the coast path should get you there - I can't imagine anyone would complain about you walking along the edge of the competition area on a National Trail.
Day Two is a bit closer, and I shouldn't think you'd have any trouble scrounging a lift if cars are being used.
Day Three seems to start in the holiday camp itself.
Of course, the definitive answer is "ask the organiser".

Perran Sands camping is cheap, but their caravans and chalets are over the top!! Cheaper caravans for 6 people for Friday Saturday and Sunday at Parkdean Holywell Bay which is on the top edge of the map. Close for Days 1 and 2 longer walk for Day 3.

Gave Haven Holidays a call today to book a pitch for the Tamar weekend and as it is a bank holiday you will get a 25% discount on-line, the 50% as advertised on the Tamar site does not apply for the BH weekend, plus the discount is open to anyone - joe public, and not a special one for us lot. Reckon you should book early though as it is a BH and half term.

Entry is now open via Fabian4.
There is also a pdf flyer on the website, which has a few more details.

Re: Tamar Triple 2010
Is there combined scoring across all three days, or is it three separate stand-alone events?
If there is combined scoring, how does it work given that there are fewer courses for the middle-distance day than for the other two?

I think it's normally just total time over all three days. Probably best to email the organiser if you want to be certain of the combinations between middle and long day courses.
