Venice 2010
I have been trawling the web looking for details of Venice 2010, which I understand is scheduled for 13/14 Nov and have not found any real detail - plenty on 2009! Has anyone found any details yet?
hop fat boy, hop!

Dodgy ankle just locked up 3 weeks ago during 5-aside football in gym and I couldn't put any weight on my heel without crying like baby - have now been 2 weekends without orienteering so am getting withdrawl syndromes albeit I spent 2 days in assembly at BUCS and had a gentle jog round RAFO Spring Sprint at Honington this Weds. Docs no clue about what's happening but have ruled out gout, which was one early prognosis

Have you tried the Italian federation site? It's been listed on there for a while.

http://www.fiso.it/03_gare/index.asp?mese=11
The event website with entry details won't get updated till much later - Italians like to do things at the last minute. But basically there's a warm up (shorter) race on Saturday if you want, and the main race is on Sunday.
Martin Ward, SYO (Chair) & SPOOK.

Re: Venice 2010
Indeed the info isn't usually online until about early September.
But not to worry, it will definitely be on 14th November this year.
You can pretty much take the 2009 details and replace the dates and you will have the 2010 details. Classes, distance, finish, assembly, timings, fees, maps all more or less the same. Only thing that changes (a bit) is the start and the course. Doesn't get any less exciting every year though. I'm looking forward to it already
On the Saturday there is a "Park O" warmup event which is OK if you've never done it before but otherwise I wouldn't bother. Though it does at least get you over to the finish area and into the mood.
Let me know if you have any more questions - no question the coolest O race in the world.

Re: Venice 2010
Entries te usually open in Mid/Late Sept - as Spookster says they're very laid back but it all works smoothly on the day.
To whet your appetite here's short video I made of last year's race where they took us by waterbus to the start. (Bit jerky I'm afraid and I'm not going very fast as I'd already run my race then had to run back to the start (couldn't go on the water bus second time round!)

Me and the missus had booked flights and accommodation, but apparently now some squad thing might be happening on that weekend, so I may end up looking for a substitute companion
