Major Events Conference 2010
24th – 26th September
Excellent Events
The theme of this conference for 2010 is to look at how Event Officials might achieve
excellence in all aspects of Orienteering Events. This will be done by reflecting on the Major Events of 2010, by looking at anything that should be promoted as an example of good practice. Examining what did not work so well and looking at ways to avoid those issues re-occurring.
In addition to the above, there will be an update session for all Grade 1 controllers on the 2011 Competition Rules and the key changes. The new training unit Event Safety & Welfare at Orienteering Events will be run for all attendees.
There will be a chance for all Major Event Officials for 2011, and 2012 to meet in their
teams during the course of the weekend. There will be the opportunity for new Grade
1 controllers to meet other controllers and debate the latest hot topics. There will also be a session for Events Co-ordinators on managing a team. Other topics will include map legibility & embargoes.
In addition to this, there will be training sessions run for all those who wish to be
appointed as Grade 1 controllers. Associations will be contacted with further details.
