Swiss O Week 2011

I see the Swiss O week is clashing again with the Scottish 6days 2011 (30 July -6 Aug)

i've enjoyed both events in the past and would have done both next year if they'd been on differing weeks. Don't large biannual event organisers talk to each other before selecting their dates?

it was considered but there are so many other factors determining dates that another 'holiday' event elsewhere isn't a big consideration.

The Scottish 6 days can't be moved back a week as it clashes with the o ringen, and if it's moved forward a week it's near the end of the Scottish school holidays. Trying to hit the English and Scottish summer holidays limits it alot.

Swiss National Day is 1st August, so I suspect that Swiss O Week are trying to select that week as it's one of the few state holidays out here and the celebrations can be a fun part of the holiday (as long as you like fireworks, lots of them!)

Yes, it's frustrating they clash but they've both got valid reasons for picking those weeks.
