I note that there is a cry for help on the Borderliners web page about putting Route Gadget on. Not being technically minded I am unable to assist them - has anyone else been able to help them out?

It would be nice to see the courses and routes taken by the competitors - this was my first Urban Race and I really enjoyed it, even putting up with the 'little thugs' who thought standing in my way was a good idea !!!

Excellent event, well done Borderliners & Paul Johnson in particular. Weather was great, courses were testing, but at 10 minutes shorter than Edinburgh were a more knee-friendly length, and the locals were mostly friendly
Only 2 minor areas for improvement:
1) the perennial overprint issues: lack of line & circle breaks, and dodgy placement of one or two control numbers (guideline E should be shouting this in big bold type instead of ignoring it)
2) only registering the event at L3 !

A local event with a very experienced controller of urban events from 116 miles away

Someone was taking this a bit more seriously than the Guidelines see as necessary for a Local event. Because of course it wasn't.

A bit more military discipline to keep to the rules required in the NW

I wore my o top for the Ed urban race. It's nice and warm and has the advantage of covering my bum. It also saves me having to think about what to wear, my brain just thinks "orienteering...o top". Thought I'd done well remembering to pack trainers rather than studs.
I hadn't realised some orienteers were so image conscious!

Interesting that on course 1 11-12 (course 2 17-18) many crossed the busy road twice. I imagine the planner didn't intend us to do that, and I'm sure its not fastest.

Similarly, on 9-10 on course 3, there's a southern route using an underpass beneath an OOB-hatched road - is that legal?

There were a couple of times in Edinburgh where I found myself running in an underpass/under a bridge that was mapped with the tunnel symbol underneath an area of olive green. It caused me momentary bewilderment first time around - the little dots weren't immediately obvious, and it took me a couple of seconds to figure out where I had ended up. I think I've got too used to underpasses mapped with light grey, and don't always look out for tunnel dots.
