Nopesport might only have 30/40 regular contributors.... that can be improved upon!.... but rather more than the group of four who formulated the event review and created a 'policy' to suit their 'thinking'.

The event review was undertaken by a group of 8-10 people appointed from different areas of BOF to develop the review. My name was put forward by YHOA. The review then went through Event Committee and finally BOF Council, which in turn had a rep from every association on it plus directly elected representatives too.

So I'm not sure where you get the idea that a group of four individuals "created a policy to suit their thinking." Perhaps you could clarify? Maybe you're mixing us up with the group of four putting their proposal to Council.

Yawn To be honest I don't think the 4 level argument has got anything to do with "quality" for the people who support it - it's just about knowing which event to go to where most of your age class cronies are likely to turn up.

They could accomplish exactly what they want by drawing up their own list of "must do" events and their own ranking list to meet their needs ( you know a sort of Nopesport Urban League - a prize for the best suggested name) and leave the rest of us to "just go orienteering" when and where and for as long as we choose.

Okay I'll start the ball rolling myself. How about Which Event Then? The WET League could chose an event in the north, south, midlands (Scotland obviously already do this with their SOL) each week/fortnight/month and base their league on it - but they can't have our Roger to work out the scores. this way the rest of us can get on with our orienteering in peace and BOF can carry on doing.....what ever it is they do.....and no one has to bother going to the agm and be treated like 5 year olds being told to address all their comments through the chair which will then be totally ignored. Simples!

Welcome to WET World

I can see some clubs would set quite a bit of store by staging a WET League Event - you know guaranteed "must do" status among the 4 level brigade just like having your urban race in the Nopesport League - and so would be vying for the status by putting on an all singing and dancing event to attract it (plenty of toilets for starters) and all those lovely age classes etc and in fact anything else the WETs decided they wanted - after all they are calling the shots here and don't have to put their case to BOF or jump through any hoops to get what they want. no messy restructuring, no tedious AGM, no divisive formats. Just the WET fixture list and league table. It really would be that easy .

The Caddihoe seems to have gone back a week, according to the BOF fixture list. So can London be upgraded to it's correct level now?

As for the "correct" level. Not within my powers - and does it make the slightest difference anyway?

But I don't see why the Caddihoe had a problem with this/needed to move - all because of a change of level? I don't understand the thinking behind this... those who are going to London would have gone anyway for the fantastic experience this race provides.

Maybe the Caddihoe moved because they realised that their entry figures would take a serious blow if they clashed with London, regardless of what level it is?

I often think the the O public see high entry costs as an indication of quality.

I see high entry costs as an indication to run/orienteer elsewhere.

Really good news in Scotland. The SOA exec have met and changed the levy system so that theere is no disincentive to register top quality events as level 2.

It's the AGM motions deadline today. Anybody have any news on whether the "four levels" motion has actually gone in, or whether some kind of compromise has been reached?

I note that the "ranking list " threads is now slightly ahead -whch will ultimately "win"

But it does show the concern of orienteers -how good am I and how good an event am I going to?
