A tip for train ticket buying. Many stations on the Inverness line carry a fairly hefty surcharge. Its possible that Pitlochry is one - if so it will be cheaper to buy tickets to Aviemore and simply get off early.

Re: Scottish Champs are now a WRE
I hadn't realised when I started this enquiry about what being a WRE means, that it would end up as an attack on the organisers of the Scottish Champs. Who only found out about the WRE status a few days ago, after being asked to apply for it by BO as they were short of an event.
I apologise to them for drawing attention to the event before all the details could be worked out.

I'm genuinely sorry if I appear to have been attacking anyone - that was not my intention at all
.
I will, however, stand by my suggestions - the website should contain some info on the courses on offer, accommodation suggestions (particularly if camping is available at the event centre - I'd see that as a great selling point), and as much helpful info on transport as you can provide.

Not trying to spread any blame around or make excuses but...
Have you looked at the JK Day 2 WRE event details?
Very little mention of WRE
On the British Orienteering site there are only colour coded courses and no age classes, and no mention of WRE status.
I feel much better now knowing it's not just us
We will get some more stuff up over the next few days. I've added the map now, so you can see what's on offer.

Yeah, you're definitely not alone - at least you're trying to do something about it
.
The map looks nice - I might have a hard time choosing between this and Penhale...

This is a major flaw in the system on BOF's part and to my mind does little to support the concept or status of WRE's in GB. (But if the IOF applied their own timetable it might put a boot up the backside of BOF and other Federations)
WRE Guidelines state that applications should be submitted to the IOF towards the end of 2 years before the competition i.e. end of 2009 for 2011 WRE's. Applications are also accepted up to 3 years out to allow forward planning.
It is entirely wrong for WRE status to be awarded 4 months before the competition... how on earth can anyone hope to use it properly in promotion etc etc. As said previously doing it this way just makes WRE status a title stuck onto a competition.
However... for the future BOF have appointed Event Managers part of their role appears to be the promotion of competitions... so maybe they will have an influence in future... but that might not help the SOA as this maybe an instance where BOF actually means England!
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)
