I'm driving over from Glasgow for the urban race and shooting off to Crieff straight afterwards under a bit of time pressure. Anyone got a tip for somewhere reasonably close to park that'll give quick access out of the city again?
Orienteering - its no walk in the park

Well there is a car park right next to assembly (at least where I think assembly is, can't see final details yet), but it's not very big and likely to be full by midday...
So, you might be best parking near south gyle station (or Edinburgh Park) and getting the train in / out. Waverly station is a 10min walk from the assembly (albeit through the competition area!)

I agree.
Bit difficult to avoid the competiton area unless you want to enter Edinburgh from the East!

JOK Chasing sprint final details for Arthur's Seat (formally known as Holyrood Park)
now online at

There's a big spiel about what to do if the Queen's Drive is closed, but that is now looking very unlikely to be the case. There is a children's course, and limited EoD: if you plan to EoD, it is still worth emailing tonight as the maps aren't printed yet.

Off Easter Road/Leith Walk somewhere - parking zones end at the old railway i think (dunno about saturday rules)- about 1km due north of assembly (look at the map linked from the final details).
To get out of town, go NW down Pilrig Street & Newhaven Road then left onto the Ferry Road...

Thanks everyone. looking forward to it. Over IN edinburgh today for a seminar in the Jurys hotel in Jeffrey St. Missed a parking ticket by around 30 seconds. Hope I'm a bit faster in my shorts than I was trying to beat the warden in my suit!

there are a fair few restrictions in edinburgh on Saturday, not everywhere certainly but there are some. and the traffic wardens are both stupid and ruthless, a deadly combination! beware of restrictions

The final details wrote:Also, competitors on the long course visit Princes Street Gardens between controls 16-18. On entry, exit and whilst in the gardens, competitors MUST NOT run on the grass. This is an important rule which we must stick to if we wish to be able to use this area in the future. There will be no OOB markings on the map within the gardens. Competitors will be warned again at the start and if caught crossing the grass on the way to 16, 17, 18 or 19 will be disqualified. Marshals will be present on the day in the gardens to monitor this.
I fear I'm likely to spend most of my run worrying about whether I'll remember about the OOB that isn't marked on the map
