Best areas never mapped for orienteering?

Several years ago I was on holiday in Shropshire and visited Hawkstone Follies, North of Shrewsbury. It may have been used for orienteering but I suspect that there would be difficulties in access and using it so I doubt it. However it did seem a fascinating place with follies, many cliffs, tunnels, bridges. Producing a map would be fun although planning courses would be a considerable challenge but then so would the orienteering!

It has been talked about but never done. The area is very narrow and planning courses would be tricky. I also believe access charges would prove prohibitive for the level of event that could be staged.

Moor of Dinnet - many km2 of detailed morraine and marsh covered in natural pine and birch woodland adn leading up some slopes to vague low visibility pine plantation. Find it immediately east of Cambus O'May and both sides of the A93 (best gritted road in Britain). However it is possible that the "never mapped" status may change sometime in the not too distant future. Watch this space.......

Another quirky area for events (Sprint races?) would be 'The Village' at Portmeirion

I've run around there dibbing checkpoints if that counts (as have one or two people rather better known as orienteers than me). Not on an O map though. It does suggest that some access might be possible, though we were mostly in the park area rather than the actual village.

Yes Ryeland I have been looking at that general area for years. If they can get permission it must be one of the great accessible new areas to come - and the general area is huge. (WOC maybe?)

After walking in it, I came to the conclusion that it was being kept for a WOC bid, but was told it was landowner issues.
There is a muckle great fence in there unfortunately, but it is still an awesome area.

Kinveachy has a nice bit up top but much of the slope is savagely steep and tough.....

The southern end, towards Aviemore is more reasonable. The bit below Beinn Ghuilbin is not so nice.
