Is this the same fungal disease as on The Chase? Apparently it affects a lot of different plants - not just oak trees but things like rhoddies as well (shame there wasn't a bit of it round control 151!). The Forestry Commission are saying "stick to the paths". Sounds like another rod to beat us with along with Goshawks, ground nesting birds, dormice, great crested newts and wet flushes (whatever they are).
Hopefully BOF's new environmental officer will be able to help out on this one - anyone know anything about it?
