Most of my answers are the same as other people's.
1. Harvester or Barry Buddon
2. Cambridge (thanks to everyone who has said London)
3. Scottish 6 days
4. Battersea Park
5. Wouldn't call it a turd of an area, but the best planned course I've run was at CHIG's Epping Forest event a couple of weeks ago.
6. Loch Ordie for orienteering, though I'd happily go there again for a walk.

1) Forvie SOL/Barry Buddon
2) Cambridge Street Race - the colleges made it pretty tricky!
3) Slovenia - OO Cup
4) Edinburgh Grassmarket area for some sprint training
5)Turd area good course --> Beecraigs at the TINTO Twin
6) Fineshade - worst area for a Compass Sport Cup Final for a long time!

Re: Sunday Sixes
Monday now, but oh well.....
1. Graythwaite definitely. How long before I can run there again?
2. SPOOK relays.
3. Forvie or N Ireland, not sure which is nearest?
4. Stockport. 0 miles (on way home from Harvester).
5. C/S Cup Final possibly. Otherwise, JK Day 2, Kyloe.
6. Burnbanks. Is it really in the Lake District?

Re: Sunday Sixes
I'm really surprised that even despite a lot of felling Graythwaite was still that good. It was a lot of fun, and the sunshine helped too!
I'm wishing I'd made it up to Forvie and down to London now - too late now!
Don't worry about it being Monday - keep them coming!

Re: Sunday Sixes
1. Day 3 Swiss O Week, Glattalp. Stunning scenery, technical terrain and it wasn't raining... The 2 hour walk to the start added to the experience, weirdly.
2. Simone's Gold Sprint, in her home town of Burgdorf. Wish we'd made the effort and gone to London instead of the Swiss sprint champs as that was dire!
3. JK, but it was worth it for the glorious weather and good events.
4. Night event in our village (although our house was just off the map)
5. Not sure it really fits in here as the area wasn't that bad, but despite all my pre-event reservations I really enjoyed W21L BOC in the New Forest.
6. Most of the areas north of Lausanne. Competitors for WOC 2012 be aware - there are some really grotty bits of forestry out here!

Re: Sunday Sixes
1. Classic: Dalrulzion, S6D day 1, even though its on someone elses hate list. A great technical and physical challenge.
2. Urban: Nottingham Uni. sprint was a great day out. Good map, planning, close racing, and a good buzz. Sheffield a close second, inspite of that underpass.
3. Furthest: Hungary. If anyone is unsure of the relentlessly high standard of competition our athletes face at WOC, then try WOC spectating.
4. Closest: Hutton Lowcross evening event, 1km jog away though the forest at the end of the garden.
5. Silk Purse: Not really a turdy area but I thought the planning at the Scottish relays in Strathmashie was good, and avoided the reputed grot.
6. No real black holes. Kinnoul was disappointing, but probably only relative to the other 6 days.

Wow, 2 of the events that I planned have been put up as someone's best, and one of them only had 100 competitors

Re: Sunday Sixes
1. Favourite Classic race: The Long race at Montlaur, near Carcassonne. Included an epic >2km leg.
2. Favourite Urban race: Cambridge, with Lincoln a close second.
3. Furthest: The Carcassonne weeked.
4. Closest: (Excluding events I helped at) Hampstead Heath.
5. Planning: Lesnes Abbey Wood
6. Irredeemable: Northaw Great Wood (except in maybe January/February)
I seem to have done 38 hours of orienteering this year - down from 58 hours last year - hmm.

1. Barry Budden and Tentsmuir
2.Cambridge
3.Scottish 6
4. Frith Wood just across the valley

6. Dalralzion Grot grot grot, why gives us a map which is all white when it is covered in knee high or higher brashings.

Re: Sunday Sixes
1. Dalruzion (Can't believe people have it as their worst) or Graythwaite
2. Not interested really, so didn't do any
3. Loch Ordie
4. Penrith Beacon
5. Can't think of any
6. Ling Fell - utterly featureless moor plus a steep equally featureless fell

Re: Sunday Sixes
1 The only remotely Classic length course i ran this year was test running the one i planned
even knowing where i was going and doing it in 2 halves it still took >1:50 - how the f*** do the elite go so fast??
2 Sisteron
3 Provence ( a long way but worth it )
4 Darnaway
5 This year's policy was to avoid all potential grotty areas: Auchingarrich, Dalrulzion, Strathmashie, etc etc, and i was mostly successful
6 Shan't be rushing back to Loch Ordie....

Re: Sunday Sixes
Classic: Graythwaite
Urban: Only run 1, so no favourites
Furthest: Fineshade (125 miles) - sad, but true
Closest: Middleton Woods, Ilkley - about 3miles, with 4 other local events either run or planned only a mile or so further away
Silk Purse: Haworth Moor & Penistone Hill
Black Hole: None - I'd even give Fineshade another go in the hope of getting a better course
(Really must try to get away more next year)

Re: Sunday Sixes
1. What was your favourite classic O' course of the year?
Day 3 French 3 Days, Fontainebleu
2. What was your favourite urban O' course of the year?
London, Cambridge a close second (both made excellent weekends away), Oxford failed to meet the high expectations set by their previous years.
3. What's the furthest you've travelled for the purpose of O' this year?
Return from Loch Ordier @ 6-days...Sitting in a jam for an hour with another 600 miles to go isnt the best experience!
4. And what's the closest?
Southampton Common Permanent Course Opening
5. Where did a planner do an amazing job of polishing a turd of an area?
I wouldnt say turd, but I really enjoyed the army events that include part urban/part forest, how far can I overshoot a control!
6. Which black hole of an area will you never be returning to after this year?
Longleat - Ive run at a huge number of places over the last 3 years, and thats the first place Ive sworn not to return to....out-of-date brambly hell...

Re: Sunday Sixes
1. In terms of minimising mistakes; Scottish Champs at Dunachtonmore and Balavil. But in terms of overall enjoyment, achievement, that "good run" and nailing controls feeling the local event at Anagach in Sept.
2. Best Urban: only done one - Edinburgh, but I did enjoy it.
3. Furthest: Teviothead - SOL3 or Aberdeen SOL double header.
4. Nearest: Dalmeny, South Qeensferry.
5. Grot: I'm not sure I appreciate the skill of planning enough to be qualified to comment. The most grotty "bit" is probably the last 2 controls at Kinnoul in the S6D, but if you want a big run-in and central assembly/car park, you have to pay the price.
6. black hole: is this one not just a synonym for "I had a crap run and I blame the map/planner/area/weather/missing beer tent etc"? When I encounter a bogie area I have to go back the next season to conquer the demons .
