Looks like a great weekend - maybe a trip south by train to Edinboro will be used to reduce travel costs.

jjjl - very patient with the replies! I think in your place I would be telling mikeg and Angry Haggis and Scott that they are all JOK members so i) ask their own club and ii) they should be there all day on Sunday to help at the event anyway!!
Why did I do that...

Ah, if only there were some figure in JOK whom we could ask... perhaps we could call them The Organiser.

So ! If i was to enter the city race and wanted to be competitive in my NEW class as a super vet I'm guessing I run short and Mr H - who is just a toy boy and still a vet for another 5 years would run long - is that right?

Long = M/W Open, M Vet (40+)
Short = M/W Junior (18-), M/W Super Vet (55+) and W Vet (40+)
Hope that clears it up!

Start times are set to be 12-3pm just to let anyone know who is considering whether they can manage to travel up on the saturday morning. It is possible!

Re: EDINBURGH WEEKEND 30th/31st JANUARY 2010
Okay - I have entered both events - BUT - and this is an enormous BUT as far as I'm concerned - the system has not taken into account that both I and Mr H go up an age class next year. I even told the JOK entry I was entering the W55+ class and yet both events have me down as a W50and Mr H as an M45. I even checked our stored profiles which have year of birth not age class - so the system should have worked it out automatically I think.
I know its that same course and all that but i am very excited about the prospect of being a Super Vet next year - my guess is I wont be the only one caught out - what should I/should have I done?
(JOK £8.99 entry fee - why not just £9?)

Not only that, but according to the Chasing Sprint entry list you're on Men 40+ and Lester is on Women 55+.

Is it just that oentries picks up this year's age and the event is next year? If so there may be a few people caught out and we'll have to deal with it on the w/e. Alternately, if we use AutOdownload it will automatically pick up your age from the BOF database on the day (i.e. next year), and overwrite whatever oentries had. So it will fix automatically.
If all else fails. First win, then barge your way to the front while looking old, and then demand a pig.

£8.99. It's not yet clear that we'll be able to provide facilities for you to spend a penny for free

Well - barging my way to the front and looking old will be easy - winning will be hard - but the sex change will be impossible to arrange in time

Mrs H - I believe the protocol for said operation is that you must live as a memeber of the opposite gender for a year before they will consider this, so I'd suggest you ask Mr H for a couple of pringle jumpers and a pipe for Christmas and maybe you'll be ready for M55 in time for 2012?

If you click on the link
orienteering.eusu.ed.ac.uk/bigweekend
It's showing this year's dates of 24/25 January in bold print
and the 2010 dates in lighter smaller type at the top
Could confuse some folk
