Re: Nopesport Urban League 2010
I'm spending a bit of time in Malton at present and have wandered around the centre a bit. Certainly has potential for an urban race. Any thoughts EBOR?

Why isn't the JK sprint included and why are so many of the events in the North of England.

Because the north of England programme has more in place? All Spookster did is list the urban races currently on the fixtures list. Maybe (I don't know) there are more urban races in the north of England?? He didn't list the Nopesport League fixtures.
As to the JK, it doesn't need the League. There'd be no point - it would be a bit of a waste.

Claro urban race in Ripon on 23rd May on a new map, to follow on from their well-established Knaresborough race. A quick glance at the town map suggests it should be good!

The 1st Nottingham City Race on Sunday 11th April has been incorrectly registered as a Sprint race. It is not a sprint, it will be a 'traditional' urban event, visiting the old lace market area, Nottingham Castle and the regenerated canal basin. More details will follow on the NOC website.

Re: Nopesport Urban League 2010
There's a rail-friendly Didcot Urban Race in the pipeline too, possibly on Bank Holiday Monday 30 August.

The debut Summer Series race there this year generated this comment: "In olden times town planners knew that the most efficient way to pack houses in an area was in straight lines. Modern planners think this is boring or soulless so in Ladygrove they went to great lengths to made all the roads wiggly and all the houses different(ish). This should make recognising where you are on the map easier but it all looks the same and you can't tell which wiggly road you are on." Plenty of alleyways too.

Re: Nopesport Urban League 2010
BKO are planning their first short summer urban and park series in May-July. Don't think it will make the Nopesport Urban League but the first event is likely to be at the University of Reading campus at Whiteknights, Reading. The buildings are not as complex as Surrey Uni but instead it does include more varied parkland, lakes and a small wooded section (I suppose it is still 'urban'
). Permission has been granted and the likely date is 22 May (tbc).

There's also a Park World Tour at Scone Palace and Perth City center, with comprehensive open races. 15 spaces available in open qualification for the PWT, and then the open race round the same course afterwards.

A bit like saying Wandelbury Country Park is the Eiger of East Anglia.

We are aiming for a Chester race this year. Plan is for two sprints with a micro-O between them. The sprints will use the "detail" within the city walls. Will be October/November, date to be set.
