I suspect that there are a few reading this that look forward to Orienteering (or training, or organising) in December to avoid fitting in Christmas. I'm absolutely sure I wont be able to make my office party because of orienteering..... whatever day it's on.

Too far for awk probably, but don't forget, Jan 3rd, DFOK regional, Chelwood. Chunk of Ashdown Forest opposite Pippingford Park/Broadstone Warren last used by CROC sometime in the 90's I think.

I recall running at Chelwood mid/late 90s and it was pretty damn cold. I may even have the map somewhere.

Don't forget Boxing Day Score in Trent Park as well

But due to global warming it must be 0.2 degrees warmer now.

No doubt that parts of Ashdown Forest are wilder and more exposed than the typical South East forest. Sometimes it's hard to believe you're so close to Gatwick and all those big towns, but we have to be careful here in case those up north start to call us "southern softies". . Might be a good place to try out your Christmas woolly hat and gloves, or even show off a Christmas jumper in the car park. Cheap entry deadline 5th December.
